As a fan you want to see your club win every game regardless of it's importance. It's good to have both Cardiff and Swansea in the Premier League as it boosts the profile of Welsh football. The derbies are some of the highlights of my year and I think a lot of you would agree that there's no better feeling than when we trounce them
Really its irrelevant to me as what they do as it don't effect me one way or another but good luck to them if they manage to stay up..
That old sparkey guy appears to have got his knickers in a twist over us "chortling" over their demise. He seems a very sensitive guy.
You seem a bit obsessed with me Dragon - hit a nerve there did I pal? Aw bless, was I "rude to you? You're still wet behind the ears when it comes to forumspeak - unless of course you're not who you seem to be eh?....... Can't say I go much for this good for Welsh football stuff either, though having the two Welsh Cities in the Premier certainly focuses the media on the Principality - to that extent only, I'll go along with it. Just a thought whilst on the thread - what a turnup it would be if you had to beat Sunderland on the last day to ensure YOU stayed up instead? Can't see that happening though guys, Villa and Southampton at home before you play them should be a breeze for at least a couple of points - just like West Brom was. On the other hand, if you beat Villa on the weekend, you could be doing us a favour with them away to Man City and Spurs for their last two fixtures, and you wouldn't want to do that now would you?
1.Grass roots football has been dieing for years and I actually think that our clubs being in the PL makes things worse. My sons club has been struggling with players as boys want to watch the Swans and go away. I actually think grass roots would be better if neither were in the leagues. You maybe able to tell me, but do you know what and how much the Swans actually put in to local football. Short of their football schools in school holidays. Which they charge for I cant think of much else. 2. All the players Cardiff produced were done so whilst in the Championship. I know we have produced Ben, but a lot of that hard work was done before we became a PL club. Also clubs are less likely to take a chance on young, up and coming players as they see PL survival more important than youth. I know you will mention Ben, but that situation was forced on us by the injury to Neil Taylor. I wonder if he would have had his debut so early without the injury to Taylor. 3. As i said earlier mate, both the senior and the junior leaguse are not as prosperous as they have been in the past, where i do agree with you is the number of very young children playing mini football. That does seem to have grown. Thats probably fathers wanting their kids to be the next Joe or Ben. Terror by the way i agree with everything else you say though.
You seem to think a lot of yourself oldsparkey. I'm not obsessed with anyone really apart from Scarlett Johansen and maybe Cameron Diaz in her heyday. Sorry but you don't come close. It's clear you're monitoring our forum as I suspected so my hook was well and truly swallowed along with the line and sinker I took issue with your comments on your forum because you stated that our result against the Toon was 'fortunate' and sorry that's absolute bollocks. I'd be surprised if anyone who saw the game would agree with that. You only welcome comments from outsiders on your forum if they don't criticise your Club or your wonderful owner in any way. In fact you openly said any comments from outsiders should be 'complementary' or they would be seen as a wind up. When you laid into me last week for saying something about Tan you were reprimanded by Jay who is a Cardiff fan and you were forced to apologise. If you don't want Swans fans on your forum then say so. You come across as an overly sensitive old codger, with due respect to all the old codgers out there. So please don't lecture me on the way forums work. From what I've seen so far this one is pretty welcoming to non Swans fans but yours is quite the reverse, though posters like Jay and a few others seem decent. Take a leaf out of their book, chill the **** out and you may find you'll live longer.
Whatever........ As old codgers go, I'm 56 and proud of it. I enjoy the forums and have done for years - maybe you'll learn to when you've had the experience (or have you already? ) Why do you always seem to edit your posts - are your first thoughts never good enough?
As you're 56 maybe you should stop acting like a ****ing 12 year old. We've just received some very bad news about one of our former players and that kind of puts things into perspective.
Oops - Dragon is getting personal again and obviously playing the sympathy card unnecessarily on a thread that has nothing to do with it. Absolute shame that you seem to want to turn things personal. Why did you have to mention me on this thread by name? I hadn't posted on it and let you get on with it, but no, you had to try to score some Brownie points with this post below. You need to take a raincheck pal before others on here see through your veil. It's you that needs to grow up.
You really have got a cheek posting on a poll of if you could accept the Swans losing, a couple of seasons ago, when your idol Brendon got put in charge, you were hoping the Swans would lose their pre-season friendlies so he would be sacked. Brilliant 'fan' you are, more sides than a 50p piece!
personally i would love it if Cardiff went down, not just cos they are our rivals but for the absurd amount of cash they have spent to get to the promised land and for their absurd little dictator owner. to their genuine fans i dont have a problem and ive enjoyed friendly banter and i hope that continues. of course they will point to our past misdemeanours and we have to take it on the chin knowing we are now a far better run club in almost every way.... ...however i voted for the Swans win!, sorry but it always has to be that way (even if i wouldnt quite feel as bad as i normally do when we lose!) ps -a cautionary aside, we are not quite safe yet!
Local football and I include the Welsh League lower leagues is struggling ,partly of their own making due to paying players without the appropriate wage structure in keeping with their income . South Gower late of the Welsh League failed and are now in free fall in the Senior league of which I've been told will have it's 1st team leagues reduced by one next season , a trend which has been creeping in gradually .The reserve teams play an additional game just to prevent their leagues finishing in January due to the lack of teams .When the Swans entered the PL a number of clubs went out of the Senior league due to players no longer turning up and these are young men who for some no longer kick a ball competitively .The positive is there are a lot more kids out in the streets /parks kicking a ball .it's those who need to be encouraged ( parents take note , without your interest then they won't get there ) to join a local club and to build and strengthen the already existing league . The Club does run initiatives but imo not enough is down to capture the imagination of the next generation and most soccer schools are expensive .The Council could do a lot more promote and utilise sports halls which for the most part lie empty due to the prohibitive costs of hiring which when you think about it is just a large space . The Liberty will be used to stage the West Wales Cup final ,which it has done now for number of years and a proviso when the Academy was agreed to be built at Landore was that the local Legaues could make use of the pitch (es) for some finals , that won't happen this season due to them having to be relaid but hopefully in the future there will be a closer link between the club and the local sporting community .
I'll tell you what you are Dai, always wrong. Go and support your No1 team, you said you arent supporting the Swans after this year, sure about that? Youve never supported them, how could a fan call for his own team to lose?
He does have an affection for you OldSparkey, it has a long and illustrious history, perhaps you can guess who he really is? I'll give you a clue 'He has left this board on so many occasions promising never to return'.....................
Dragon phil if you are referring to me you are well off the mark as I joined quite recently and have never said anything about returning because I never left. You seem like an ok guy to me but you're wrong on this, not like I give a flying **** anyway. No offence. Not sure if the mods can check something to verify this but knock yourself out. Haven't been here long and it's a decent forum with good mods but if Cardiff fans are allowed to come over here and be difficult when someone puts up a thread then I won't be hanging around. This oldsparkey guy is just not very nice. He stated on the Cardiff board we were "fortunate" on the weekend. When I told him he was wrong it got personal. Needs to get a life I think. Anyway, the guy seems to want to score points and I'm not sure why. Strange fella, but he's got what he wanted because it's caused problems on a thread I've put up. Mods if you want to close this feel free. Looks like we're split 50 50 as I thought we would be.
Who's being difficult on this thread pal? You're the one who posted a totally ambivalent comment mentioning me on here for no reason at all - it had nothing to do with this thread. The fact that I questioned your integrity on the Cardiff forum seems to have upset you to the point of hysteria about me. I only bothered to post my initial comment on this thread AFTER your little snipe, and then went on to offer you an alternative scenario in my post for your last game that you chose to ignore - isn't that true poster/forum interaction? Then the toys came out of the pram and you told me to stop behaving "like a ****ing 12 year old" because you'd had some bad news about an ex player - what the **** has that got to do with this thread and it's subject. You seem quite naive how this all works but like many others on ther Cardiff forum and I suspect some over here, you are not all you seem. You either have an awful lot to learn about this forum or you are being quite clever. Back to the thread subject guys. I had and have no intention of spoiling it, don't close it because of me.
Sorry Dragonborn, maybe I'm wrong, it was just that some of your terminology is very reminiscent of someone else who used to frequent this board. I agree though that oldSparkey can be a very prickly old git!.............
