I think that we should be eternally grateful to MM for saving us from relegation to Division 1 and for stabilising the club during the past 2 seasons, but surely the time has come, whether we scrape into the play offs or not, for the parting of the ways. His persistence in refusing to drop his favourites, his unbelievable stubbornness and his total lack of tactical awareness in the modern game will never allow us to progress.
We have the basis of a good squad but now need someone to bring some attack minded thinking to the table and to bring some flair to the proceedings. MM is certainly a quality Championship manager who will stabilise any Championship team but can anyone really see the current squad making significant progress next season. I'm hoping that he might be tempted by the vacancy at his local team, Millwall. A former club and just round the corner from home, this would surely suit both parties. Thanks Mick, you have done what you believe to have been your best but it has just not been good enough at the sharp end of the season.

The bloodletting has already started on TWTD <doh>

Absolute carnage in the TWTD match day chat room today.

Warky I am still trying to get my head around your post!

I think today's gash performance is down to the players, MM picked about as close to the starting line up that we would like to see that he is ever going to pick, unfortunately the defence was as poor as I have ever seen, the last goal will probably give Tommy nightmares for the rest of the season.! 4 shots on target 4 goals, fair play to Boro they took their chances but we bloody well helped them along the way with every goal!

I thought we looked decent first half but second half when we went more attacking to try to win we certainly got opened up like Jewell was back at the helm....but you might as well lose by 3 as lose by 1 I suppose..............

Johnny ,I agree ,Millwall would have too much sense too<doh>

TBF I thought our midfield did ok today, forward line struggled however at the back we are decidedly non league

Thought the midfield was better than normal but still not good enough. We need to be able to keep the ball under pressure and give our defenders an option to pass to. We're not assertive enough on the ball.

Fair play to Mick though he did go for it in the end, problem is it reminded me a bit of Roy Keane tactics of just putting more forwards on when really it was the supply line that needed changing not an extra forward. He's brought more forwards on which results in us by passing the midfield even more!!

If we're not going to play wingers we need to go back to 433. To me it seems one of the major factors between our good run before xmas and our poor run since!!

As I say Hoppers, defense is the one thing you thought we could get right under MM!. Changes needed there, and we all know which ones.

1st half we were well on top, but their 3rd goal snuffed us out.

Have to beat Bolton Tuesday!

Very true. Smith I think is half decent at this level just not great on the right. Our defenders need to be given confidence on the ball, so they can pass it to someone and even step up from time to time rather than just resulting to the hopeful ball all the time. The midfielders nor goalkeeper do not help in this aspect. The midfielders should be offering themselves as an option to pass to all time, not just wandering up pitch with their backs to the defence.

I also like building from the back but the pattern of play seems to be our GK holds on the to ball waits for the opposition to get back into position, then roll it out to one of our defenders who doesn't have many options so either passes it amongst the defence for a bit or passes back to the GK, who ultimately hoofs the ball up to Murphy. We need to be far more decisive on the ball

I thought Sears didn't do much today if I'm honest.....

First game in a while where he didn't impress that much but to be fair the service wasn't great. Even if he's quiet though his movement means we look far more balanced upfront and have more options on the ball.

Brentford are winning as indeed are everyone else apart from Derby in the Top 6 so I think realistically that our eason ends here. Just hope Watford don't tear us a new one but judging on the absolute shambles defending that I witnessed today I reckon it will be a Cricket score.

It was fun while it lasted but deep down I think the majority of us knew that we just weren't good enough to sustain our first half season form. The biggest mistake IMO was not strengthening our squad with some real quality in January. Once Dids got injured all of our creativity went with him and I'm sorry but Tommy Smith has been gaving an absolute shocker since the start of the year.

A season of early promise but too many dodgy performances and results just when we didn't need them! Think back to the points we threw away at Forest, Huddersfield and Blackburn! A season of what ifs and maybes! Not sure where we go from here without some serious money being spent in the Summer!

To be fair with the team on paper we have, Mick has done well to get us where we are, I said at the start of this season if with that team Mick manages to improve on last season it has been a good one and I think we have. As ever though Micks stubborness pushes us forward and holds us back in equal measure.

I haven't been overly impressed with McG all season to be honest, I felt we got more creative with the emergence of Bishop and when Williams played. Also actually Sears makes a big difference because he creates space for others. If Mick isn't going to play wingers I hope he looks at a way to get Murphy, McG and Sears in the same team.

Season still far to early to write us off for the playoffs anyway. We've got to come out of this terrible run of form at some point and we've got a few players coming back from injury who'll be fresh for the playoffs. I get a feeling it might go down to the wire and hopefully by that point we may have a bit of momentum. There's no need to throw the baby out with the bath water. And I like how the club are being sensible with the money, it also means some of our youngster might get a chance.
