I`m afraid I don`t understand all this `big` club stereotyping. There are a number of clubs who are successful in one form or another, there are clubs that are better supported then others, both Sheff Wed and Leeds do have fan bases much larger then ours, but how do you compare their achievements to ours in recent history of the last 12 years for instance. We have had 5 promotions, appeared at Wembley 4 times, been runners up in the FA Cup, played 4 seasons in the Premier league with a fifth imminent, and appeared in Europe. Both Wednesday and Leeds historically have been successful, but they aren`t now, and haven`t been for many years, their fans refer to them as big clubs, but I`m afraid they are only well supported clubs. At present we are by far and away more successful, so are we a `big` club per say ???

The `big` club status for me is a myth, its little man syndrome, or like owning a porsche when ya tadger is 3" long, merely a comfort blanket for those who believe they should get success, but aren`t.
I'm not sure the 'big' club thing is a myth. IMO it refers to size of fan base, capacity of the stadium and heritage. But of course it's an opinion and not an exact science. Suppose it's similar to the phrase 'sleeping giant'. IMO 'big' doesn't necessarily refer to success. At the moment I would refer to us as being medium sized successful club. But maybe that's splitting hairs.
Does anybody know where I can get my Porsche serviced ?

For me, a big club was always a 3 wood.

that doesn't make a big club. I would say fan base or revenue.

Wednesday's largest ever crowd 73,000 Leeds 58,000. Wednesday are one of only 13 clubs to average over 40,000 for a season, Leeds aren't one of the others. Leeds is the largest city with only one club. Sheffield has a smaller population and two clubs.

Even though I left because of the Allams my first major jolt and disappointment was away at Anfield when Gerrard fouled Turner twice and we ended up with a 2-2 draw.

Was the first time I'd ever been told to sit down by my own fans. Was a gutting day. It was then I really knew supporting football had changed.

I really thought what's the point? Football was being aimed at the happy clappers. That was fine if us non- happy clappers were left alone to stand and sing together. But they don't want that.

They want a product. They want something to sell. And anyone that stands in their way gets flattened.

Day in day out the masses go to work and make the country tick over. Drones, but the most important people in the country as we keep it going. Keeping the rich, rich. As always.

And now? Control of our past-time. Our joy. Football. The more happy clappers, the better for them. Sell the masses a product with no questions, reap the rewards. The rich get richer. As always.

Then step in the Allams.

Football started dying years ago. And many values went with it.

Football needs handing back to the 'core fans', before it disappears into a million magnolia coloured fields, never to be seen in its true, wonderful form ever again.

You came up with that at 1 o'clock this morning. Awesome, absolutely awesome.<applause>

Yeah, what Castro said.

Bournemouth, little club, Southampton little club, Portsmouth big club.

Bournemouth pissed off their long standing fans, they disregarded previous support and put everyone who applied for season tickets into a ballot.

Southampton got rid of consessions in the two central parts of the stadium. Season tickets are £875 for seats on the half way line for everyone. Son in Law and Grandson (13 ) will pay over £1000 for their season tickets.

Portsmouth now owned by supporters average gate over 15k in league two.

Being a big club is not dependant on where you are in the tables, it is about the core support and how others club compare with that support.

As a supporter base we should stop trying to be something we are not, Hull City is not a big club. It is just Hull City.
So the grandson is paying the same price Tom?? Bloody hell. Are other clubs doing this too? Would it be the same price if he were 4 or 5 years old?

I've never understood the argument that because you stand up you're a better supporter. If people choose to sit down that's up to them. Sooner the FA/club introduce safe standing the better, then those that want to stand can **** off over there and complain to their mates about the likes of me whilst I can sit in peace and not have to worry about some selfish bastard doing the equivalent of the tarts who sit on their boyfriends shoulders at a concert. Now where's my coacoa...
You tell em.i don't mind standing, but the Mrs sits down.why should she look at someone's back all match.bring on safe standing asap please
