it's not 24 hours of work. i'm talking about people who are pleased to win and disappointed to lose, who are delighted with promotions and gutted with relegations. i'm talking about people who wish they'd seen wagstaff and chilton or carter and burbanks, or who maybe did, not people who think history is bunk and only the present matters. i'm talking about people who reminisce with their mates about games from 2 or 5 or 25 years ago, when we were good or bad or neither and something good or bad or neither happened, but it was worth remembering and talking about, not instantly forgettable because it was like an evening at the theatre or the library or mcdonalds. sadly it looks like i'm not talking about people like you, because you don't seem to understand. you're a customer, not a fan. you mention church. i don't believe in that stuff. football is my religion. no, hull city is my religion and the devil is creating a schism. but he will lose. and so will all those that have made a pact with him.

If Mr Pearson hadn't come in the first time, we WOULD have gone bust. Did he change the name to "gain more revenue"... no.
Understand your argument, but I was there during the hard times of the early noughties in the piss poor Boothferry Park West Stand with seats that were half broken - it irritates me to see people jeer each other for their views.

This is exactly the kind of point I was making on the thread from last week. It's easy to say that, but what exactly does that mean in the current climate? I was there too, that famous day we were locked out, it doesn't lend any credence to my argument for or against the name change. Our name is the same now as it was 100 odd years ago, and yet people are trying to lob in references to being there in the 'hard times' as though it makes a difference. Stand up and be counted now, don't just lean back on the bar and say "I was there in 1960" like the memories are all the matters. The battle is now. If you're tied up in jaded memories of Division 3 then fine, enjoy those times, but realise that we're dealing with reality, not some jaded pipe dream.

Why, and I mean this whole heartedly, have you mentioned that?

Re: those booing - "useful idiots" is the phrase that comes to mind to quote Stalin. I prefer the term "complete ****s." It would have been better if those booing had just sung their appreciation for what they perceive Allam is trying to do. not make their angst felt by directing it at fellow supporters. Total scum poppered out on the dream of the Premier League.

are you deliberately ignoring what i'm getting at or just too thick to understand?

I DON'T WANT THE NAME TO CHANGE BECAUSE I LOVE THIS CLUB, I LOVE ITS HISTORY, I LOVE THE EXPERIENCE AND MEMORIES I'VE PICKED UP ALONG THE WAY, AND I LOVE THE NAME AND DON'T WANT IT CHANGING BY SOME FLY-BY-NIGHT TEMPORARY LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER WHO'LL BE GONE LONG BEFORE I AM.

is that any clearer?

Hull City AFC

I love this club. Why? because I'm from hull. It's my team.

So......

We change our name!

We're now Hull Tigers.

I love this club. Why? Because I'm from hull. It's my team.

Why the **** do you want us to change our name ??

Why does ANYONE want us to change our name ??

Rather depends on what you class as 'support'.

Well it seems on here their are a few who think they are the only real supporters and because they may have been supporters when the bad times were here only their opinion matters, well their are also supporters that have been watching Hull a lot longer then they have and just want to watch football in Hull and to me it seems as long as the word Hull is there it really is not an issue for them, and why should it be as they support Hull.

This is the worst thread I have ever read on this or any other messageboard.

Our fans are simply a disgrace, the worst in the whole of football. Everton change the badge slightly and there are protests, boycotts and the club rollover and give the fans what they want. It's the FANS club afterall. And this was just a badge, clubs modify them regularly. Our owner on the other hand - a man who knows nothing about football and to this day thinks we are called Hull City Tigers - tries to change the name, THE one constant in our club's entire history. And what do our fans do in response? They rollover and get arsef**ed cos they want to see Stevie G on our pitch.

What a bunch of absolute c**ts.

But, what do you think is a "supporter"?

Don't know about it being the worst thread, but it's hard not to agree with the rest.

Ah now that's a question many think that the only supporters are people who were there in the bad days all the way through to the present and think it's only their opinion that matters, many others have been going less to watch Hull but still pay to watch them, others may not be able to afford to go but buy things from the club when they can to show support wether it's for them or their kids, how do you define a supporter.

Being able to sing a few words does not make you a real supporter no matter what you are singing about.

Its not about opinion.......if you want a name change you obviously don't care about Hull City, and therefore you are not a supporter.

Its not ****ing rocket science !!

Just because some are not as worried about change as others does not mean they are not supporters that is pathetic and that is not rocket science either, some think Allam has done a good job and knows what he is doing in business and think if he thinks changing the name helps then so be it they will give him the chance obviously others don't think that way most are supporters but have different opinions of the situation so opinion does matter it seems.

I think a supporter is all of the above, and on the name change subject i like our name now and hope it can be resolved amicably but i am not going to change my life if it changes, Allam has done good for this club and as potty as he may be he is doing most things good for the club so i won't berate him over a name change and i very much appreciate and support what he has done for this club.

Why does it have to be an argument? I'm just expressing an open view without opinion

Apart from the fact that I support the football team from hull.

Rather than just being angry with you, I'll come back to ask a question:

I have zero doubt whatsoever that Allam's end-game is to have a non-geographically linked football team. After changing the name to Hull Tigers the next step in his plan is to remove the word Hull. He also wants us to have our home outside of the city in a nondescript place. Think the Juventus model if you like, not linked to a city in any way and therefore the best supported club in the country by an absolute mile. I think they have 5 times more registered fans than any other Italian club.

So to the question....

If Allam gets his initial name change and stays on as owner, when does it become 'a step too far'? You say you support the team from Hull, will you support his team if he moves them out of the city's boundary? He has already very publicly said he wants to do this so if he wins his initial name change battle he will view it that he has a mandate to move the stadium. I mean, the fans can hardly complain, he's already said he wants to do this. And then what if he drops the name Hull so it simply become Tigers - is that too far for you?
