This is part of the whole EV conversation. Imagine you have EV and have to park 100 yards away + on the opposite side of the road... thats a fair few extension leads... and without being told to unplug due to H&S statutes.

What car is it? Also where do you live and why do you get free charging?I've had one for 9 years now and it's been great, far more reliable and cheaper than our three other diesel ones we've had during the ownership. 275000km done, free fast charging at my local supermarket for its lifetime, that has paid back the cost of the car, 90% off toll costs up to last month and aside from service, tyres, brakes and EU control, it's been in the garage three times and been fixed under warranty. The battery holds 93% of the original charge, so very little degradation in a car been driven daily in temperatures ranging from -27 to + 30 degrees.
They're not for everyone - if you're doing thousands of km a week up and down motorways, they're no good. If you haven't got off street parking, no good either for charging and what won't affect UK drivers much, they don't charge quickly when it's below -5, but if you have a heated garage, not an issue. If you tow a hanger or caravan, not great either.
It's all about what you use it for and what your needs are. If EU proposals are met, by 2030 or 2035, won't have a too great choice anyway.
