Absolute ball ache of a ko time! I coach on a sat am til 11, both my kids train too....and it's in Sheffield....gives us an hour and a half to get over park up and get to the ground, and that bastarding 40 zone on the a63 which goes on for about 400 miles as well as work on the bridge with it's 30 zone didn't fkn help!

First time I’ve been under Walter. The main takeaway you can’t judge anything till about 20 games, a lot of these players haven’t played together and it will only get worse with another 6/7 signings.

I don’t think the game was as bad as many were making out walking out the stadium. We look more threatening in the final third than we did with Rosie with poorer personnel. Pandur looks fairly solid and we can see some feint patterns of play forming. It’s going to take a while for the likes of Slater and Jones to stop playing safe like they did with Rosie.

The main negative points where the two new strikers first touches were horrendous, hopefully that comes with match fitness. We look hopeless at defending set pieces and the simple art of clearing the ball. My main negative is what’s happened too Omur, I know he took a huge knock and was bound to come off, but before that he looks devoid of any ability he showed last year, hopefully it’s not the home sickness bug.

Agree with most of that other than the striker's first touches. Thought they were actually really good. The first touch for that Burstow chance was outstanding. Bedia had a few good moments where he'd get stuck in a bit and the ball seemed to stick to him. Too soon to judge.

Yeh agreed. I didn’t realise how tall Bedia was when we signed him but he is absolutely massive!

Hard to judge any of the 3 new lads today, felt that all 3 of them barely got on the ball, more due to our tactics and Millwall's defensive set up, they'll need time to gel, but what was a big difference today Vs pre season and out first 2 games is the big step up in depth off the bench, being able to bring on genuine first teamers for 4 of his subs for the first time as manager will have felt good for Walter. With more to come we should only improve from here.

Maybe I'm the odd one out here but I'm not particularly impressed by Walter's words at all. I never understood why Rosenior's enthusiasm offended people so much, so maybe that's why I don't get the same enjoyment of Walter moaning that his team weren't good enough every week that others seem to. I listen to all of his interviews and at times I find it hard to follow what he's on about. He gets angry at every game and people lap that up but it's his team. If the defenders he's inherited are so terrible then he could play the one he bought instead. At the end of every game he stomps onto the pitch to have a go at the ref and then stomps straight off again and there's an awkward bit where people have stayed back to clap the players off but Walter's in a rush to get away so no one on the pitch really reciprocates and it just peters out.

Paid close attention to Zambrano and agreed, passed the eye test straight away. Was constantly in space but was never found, if you’ve got the man in the middle with the ability to turn and pick out a pass then trust him. Hopefully that will come or maybe the introduction of Hughes with his direct passing might see him recieving it more.

Okay, flip it round, why is he the right man? He's been in post for 2 months which is quite long in football these days, and having a pre-season is a bit of luxury for managers.

Results in pre season aren't important but performances are and we continued into the season just like we played in pre season.

I think you can tell pretty early on if it's going to work with a gaffer

No it hasn’t. We were leaking goals like crazy in pre season. We’ve conceded twice in the league.

We’ve got half a squad ffs. New players are here but they’re adapting. Get a grip and stop talking ****

Because the so called enthusiasm was essentially bullshit after a poor performance. Loads of times people were worried he'd watched a different game to everyone else. Walter is admitting the performances aren't great but there are small signs of improvement - he and the fans all understand this is early days of a work in progress and it literally goes without saying. Conversely, Rosenior's specialty was telling us all that if the fans didn't like it, it was because they didn't understand what he was trying to do or didn't understand how football is played. Can you see how that's not as endearing as just TW saying it as it is? Ie; the players keep reverting to safety ball when he doesn't want them to.

On the note of having a go at the ref, I seem to recall Rosenior getting various cards from referees due to crossing the line with them, and serving multiple touchline bans as well, so I'm assuming that wasn't a criticism.

Just saying it as I see it, but the loaded language you've chosen to use implies your mind's already long since made up. Personally I wouldn't construe TW's interviews as 'moaning', certainly not yet anyways.

The players we can currently put out can play significantly better than this.

We're a little short but when you leave a chunk of your business to the last week, it's pretty likely you'll be left short. We did the same last summer.

No response about why Tim is the right man.

I imagine you think Rosenior should have been given longer? After falling short with a squad that included players sold for a combined total of at least 80 million this summer...

Yet you're suggesting we should be looking for Walter's replacement after 3 undefeated league games and a cup game in his opening 7 weeks, with a far weaker, still to be fully overhauled, stripped squad, all learning a new system?

If we recruit well and back the manager, and the 'excuses' all go away, and we are still playing like this near the end of the season, then I'll probably be inclined to agree with you. But it's way too soon for that **** now. It's like judging a fight when one of the boxers hasn't even got out of bed yet.

I haven’t claimed he’s the right man. I’m just saying your claim of him “clearly not being up to it” is utter horseshit.

Based on what? How can they play better than this? The attack is bare bones. Our striker today has 1 championship goal to his name, the right winger has none and the left winger has 5… like I say, you’re talking ****

We don’t know if Tim is the right man or not. No idea.

But to suggest he’s not after 3 undefeated league games - with potentially half a team yet to come in - is absolute madness. Our strikers today have barely touched a ball on the training pitch with our midfield - which were also lining up together for the very first time today.

Come back to this in a couple of months. We’ll know far more then.

Interesting question, why does it take so long to write off a manager but people will write off a player in 30 mins?

Neither should be written off yet. Knee jerk reactions benefit no one
