You'd be surprised how many organisations lean towards collective bolockings as opposed to dealing with the route cause nowadays.

Obviously digressing a bit from the topic here but my young Grandsons primary school recently sent a circular home to every parent(300 letters maybe) regarding the use of E-Scooters to and from school...There was only one kid doing it and it would have been much easier pulling the parent to one side and telling him.

My Daughter handed it back to the headmistress and told her to do her job properly!!

Do they send letters from school in the UK?
Is it still 1993 there?

I fail to see how a Club can be fined when it's made clear in their sanctions that behaviour of this kind can result in severe punishment?

We all know the drill when we enter into an agreement whether that be a season membership or a single match ticket that such behaviour will not be tolerated.

It's virtually impossible for any Club to monitor each and every one of it's fans,yet the F.A deem it fit to punish the Club when they have done everything in their power for it not happen?

The sanctions are clear...In particular level 4 offences,detailed below.

To be fair, they are showing consistency, we're at least the sixth club in the last three years to be fined for the rent boys chant against Chelsea.

Is the rent boys chant any more offensive then Chelsea fans chanting 'You dirty Northern Bastards' or waving wads of bank notes whilst shouting 'We pay your benefits' and another 'Your just a town full of smackheads' Same could be said about Arsenal fans too.

In 2022, the UK Crown Prosecution Service officially designated the chant as a homophobic slur. Singing it is a hate crime prosecuted under public order laws, so yes it is different.

Maybe cite Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986 and argue the chants are 'threatening or abusive words, behavior, or displays likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress'.

I had a set too on the last tube out of London to St Albans were we were stopping in a hotel after the FA Cup Final with Arsenal. I was in a carriage with my wife and family, including grandkids minding our own business.
It was a 30 minute journey and throughout that journey the chants and insults aimed at us from a carriage full of pissed up Arsenal fans got worse and worse. They called us everything from gypos, scumbags, crackheads, unemployed, Northern monkeys and worse of all Northern scum. Plus all the usual ****er signs etc etc .I'd spent more on that weekend for my family then they probably earned in a month, didn't matter, I lived in house they could only dream of, didn't matter, I wasn't looking for a confrontation and was probably twice their ages, it didn't matter and it carried on and on.
Until I snapped. You can only take so much abuse and it does get personal. None of my party were on benefits, all present were self employed and work hard, and we don't take **** like that, especially for no reason other then we were from Hull. Classism is no worse then homophobia in my eyes and the cockneys are re-known for it.

That must have been an unpleasant experience for you and your family.

I guess the events don't balance each other out - because the offenders got away with verbally attacking you, it doesn't null the offence at the game.

Eh, I do think its tricky. I largely agree it shouldn't be - but at the same time has it been illegal to be poor? People are directly killed for being LGBT still around the world - physically tormented etc.

But then on the other hand, political decisions have caused harm and probable death to people in poverty. I guess its the indirect v the direct that does make it slightly different - but equally less clean cut as there will be some that treat poverty chanting with distain but applaud political policy that harms people with little money.

Both things are gross to be fair. I wouldn't mind it if classist chants were treated the same way - but I do think there is a difference.

Sorry to hear you had to go through this mate, sounds like a horrible experience. You’d have thought they’d have better things to do after winning a cup final, but clearly not.
