Just glad to be winning and looking up rather than worrying about how many points we are off the relegation places! I do think we need a proper right back: What if Smith or Berra gets injured? Chambers moves into CB, Hewitts injured and Vaselli doesn't seem to be getting a look in. I would love us to sign Stearman, but I think the wages will be unrealistic. Either way, McCarthy's proven himself with his signings for us so far, whoever he signs/feels we need to sign, I trust and will back him.

That's how I see dids playing Bleakers, just behind the front man/men. He creates goals for others and himself from there. He's not a natural poacher but he likes to run at defences and looks like he's wanting to score a worldy.

It's like the polar opposite of how we were under Jewell, when actually in spells we looked like a really really good team but we'd crumble, this year I think in general we've looked bang average and we seem to make other teams look average also, but we're doing the simple things which means we're always likely to get some points. We're grinding the points out, I'd like to see us be a little more expansive as it is nice to be entertained but at least we're getting points on the board and as I said it's quite a feat with the squad we've got that we're doing so well.

I picked this up from bbc, only Burnley have stopped us scoring at home. At least the crowd are seeing goals.
We're tied third for goals scored (30), only Leicester (31) and Derby (40) have scored more. Who said we weren't creative.
Agree with you JWM, a year from now some won't remember performances but results will stick in the memory.
We're still not that creative most of our goals come from Cresswell or McG's individual brilliance. Performances definitely stick in my memory, it's not all about the results. Would every body really have liked to have watched Stoke under Pullis, I certainly wouldn't, I'd have rather stayed in the championship and watched us play good football. Plus IMO you can only go so far playing solid football, which is why Mick has struggled in the PL. I love it when we dominate teams playing good football because at the end of the day it's entertainment.
I really think when Hewitt is fit we need to give him more of a try, has Chambers really done any better in that position than Hewitt at the start of the season? plus he doesn't add as much going forwards. Agree we need a player who can take the game by the scruff of the neck, I think Skuse could be that player but he just doesn't seem to have that attitude to make things happen. Sometimes he seems to content just to sit back and do a job, think he needs a bit more gusto
Id have to agree with this. We clearly lack quality in a lot of positions but I'd rather us develop (even at this level) over a few seasons with the team we have adding a couple of signings a window and then bringing some of the youngster through. I think we should certainly look to do it this season as we won't be in a relegation battle.

it depends, good teams win ugly and I've got no problem with that, you're not going to be on your game every game. I just like and feel most proud when we go out to win a game and take it to the opposition even if we lose the game at least we gave it a go. You need a balance and I think as Mick knows what he's doing and I think he's quite capable of getting us playing good football, I think we might win a few more games, admittedly we'd also probably loose a few more but that's the risk you take. I always favour the teams who play good football over the grinders, it's just what I prefer to watch and my own team it's no different.
I posted that video interview about Burley and whilst yes it was a successful team we played darn good football also and that earned us alot of respect and also made me feel alot prouder. I'm not sure I could cope if we appointed a manager like Alladyce or Pullis even if it was successful football. For me winning isn't everything, of course I want to see us do well but conversely to that point I think teams who play good football right from the academy up do better because they're simply better on the ball and have more confidence in tight situations, i think ultimately thats the goal. Plus when teams who play a less glamerous type of football loose, there aren't many positives to take out of the game and fans turn on managers far quicker, again look at Pulis they have one pretty poor season after all the success and fans wanted him out.
I hear what you're saying mate but for me it's no good playing pretty football if you don't earn points. I guess it all depends on how you define entertainment. A lot of italians would rather watch a tight, defensive match because they like to see the tactical side of the game, more like a game of chess. For them it's all about possession and not the kick and rush style of English football.
There are different ways to get results, but at the end of the day results is what will bring success, not the method of attaining them.

Yes agree, Italian football is good football though. I geuss despite being a defender myself I like seeing teams emphasise technique and treating the ball with care as Jim used to say, as if you've got the technique and ball skills, passing and movement I think you're more likely to be able to step up to the next level. The basics only get you so far. But it's always more interesting to see good football.

There is definitely some truth in this, and I think perhaps if Mick is able to get in a couple of quality wingers we may be a bit more expansive but it's generally more down to what style the manager wants the team to play over the players in the team IMO.
First he's done what was necessary, which was tidy us up and make us competitive in each match. The rest will come later.
