He's difficult enough at 7 months, i hate to think what he's going to be like as a teen!
Anyway in relation to the OP, Ramires on the bench to start- he will be brought on when we are 1-0 down then he will set up the equaliser and score the winner. You heard it here first :)

Mate........ When you are about to have a child your wife will want you by her side. Or all that I have spoken to have said that without exception. She will need you there to comfort her and to help her through those painful moments. When the babe is borne Normally mother gets to hold baby first and the bonding begins. She will normally cherish that moment for the rest of her life. She will then offer the baby to you to hold so that your bonding can begin. It is too for you something that you will cherish for the rest of your life. Holding your own new born in your arms, something you and your wife have made and designed between you. This is a very unique feeling. The memory never goes from you, for me at least. In my case with my youngest son I was even more Fortunate in a way. You see we had only just arrived at the general on a particularly busy birthing day. We got into reception and my son decided he could wait no longer. While a nurse (not a Midwife) Was trying to gown up etc. My son was born into my arms. Yes my arms, well hands actually and while I was holding him waiting for the nurse to cut the cord etc. He decided to piddle all over me and my brand new tailored suit that I had picked up the day before (about £800 worth). My son and I do have a very special bond as I do with all my children. He in particular though because of what happened. Yes I did get the suit cleaned no bother. Although that happened some 35 years ago I still have that suit and would not part with it for the world. So I'm not sure in truth whether it is important for the baby, I just think it is important though for you and your wife.

I would hope to see all of the new outfield players at some point. I am not bothered whether they start because I have decided that i trust Nigel on that.
Don't be too hard on those who have yet to experience the wonders of parenthood. They will discover when the time comes, the difference between "a baby" and "my baby". If we are honest, I am sure that most of the Dads on here would accept that they had little interest in babies before their turn came.
If remains one of the best days of my life and I would have missed out on that experience to go to work? No way!

Yeh, I have to agree with you Channonfodder, until you have your own child, other babies hold minimal interest!

My boy is only 2 months old, and I can't even imagine not being there for his birth, not just because I wouldn't get away with it, but because I wanted to be there. One of the most scary and joyous experiences you can have, I suppose you could describe it as one of those rites of passage.

Back to football, I hope Ramirez makes his debut at Arsenal, as I'm at the game, but......I hope its before the last 10 mins, as I have to leave early, and I mean I have to, one of those double booked things; my life is not worth living if I'm late!

I'll agree with that, my paternal instincts are not.... shall we say, well developed atm. But I'm sure if I ever have kids then maybe I'll be more paternal (though the likelihood of finding a girl with whom I could even have kids with seems somewhat low I think).

Yep, I like that. Although chimps wouldn't have done what I saw a group of teenagers doing a couple of nights back as I drove home. They were all around 13, 14, 15 or so, dressed in recent fashions, eyeing each other up, playing with their smartphones, and totally CLUELESS as to what to do next..! I think they were all standing there, waiting to be 18. :)

If he has to go and be with his wife at the birth I will never complain. As a club that has a family reputation I would be surprised if we were to tell him he had to play.

My last two were born with me cutting the cord and I was very nervous the first time and was astonished, at the time, how strong the cord actually is.

So if he is available fine but if not then we will see him in the next all being well.

I am very happy to say that I have at last found something I agree with gomarchingin on. I was present at the births of all three of my children, and believe me, it's an experience not to be missed, as well as being a support to your partner. I held my first child before her mother did, and she smiled at me, just before she pissed all down my shirt. You don't forget moments like that, ever. Of course Adam should be there for the birth, even if he misses the Arsenal game, there really isn't a contest.

Teenagers have always done that, just without the phones before they were invented obviously. When they can legally buy alcohol, they realise there's limited pleasure to be had from drinking in the park or in the street, whkile playing with phones.
