Didn’t know where to share this. Apologies if someone has pasted it else where. But I thought this was a cracking read, and made me feel proud:
Thanks for posting FML. I read something on MFW last week about the signs of improvement being on show last season with our number of attempts at goal, but too few 'on target' and all that was needed was a 'Finnisher' to see us scoring more goals. <getscoatemoji>
Excellent FML. The only player overlooked was Tettey, who gets on with his unglamorous job with a quiet efficiency. As for Leitner, who has more passes than any other player in the Championship, his pass success rate was 88.1% in that frantic game. He is at the heart of everything we do going forward and his defensive work has improved dramatically. AM is also right to emphasize the impact of Lewis and Aarons providing pace and width which also enables them to get back when the ball is lost, as with Hernandez and Buendia. As JMF says though, the true talisman is Pukki whose hard work and clinical 'finnishes' have made all the difference. Rhodes also deserves credit for his 5 goals (plus 3 in the cup) in far fewer games and the midfield and defence has already chipped in with 10 goals.
Thanks mate. Good point about Tetty. Overlooked because he does the dirty work with not as much speed and pizzazz. Very important never the less.
I still do it!! Unfortunately he did towards the end of the game, and it went waaaaaaaaay into the distance!
Tetty appears to be playing better than ever, fewer (less?) yellow cards as well. But, he switched off totally for Millwalls ' second goal, stood pointing while a player ran past him and scored.
Excellent point re Tettey’s yellow cards and by now he’d at the least be approaching his first ban (he’s on 2!!!). Tettey has also learnt to pass the ball forward. Let’s look more closely at DF’s achievements – He’s not afraid to give youff a chance – and how they’ve ‘stepped up to the plate’ is TOTALLY beyond expectations!! He’s resurrected the failing careers of both Pukki and JR – to the extent that their past clubs are ‘spitting feathers’ at their spectacular failures when they played for them. In each of our last 3 games, we’ve scored a ‘sublime’ goal, where an opposing player hasn’t touched the ball – I know the Millwall defender just got a foot to the ball before Pukki’s shin took it over Amos. He’s COMPLETELY revitalised the atmosphere at CR (and pays tribute to the fans!!) in a way that I can’t remember since the heady days of 2010-2011 and I’d be amazed if there are any of the ‘half season’ Season Tickets left for sale. #letskeephim
I think that Tettey and Stiepermann's improvement could be down to some excellent coaching and that Cantwell, Lewis and Aarons are benefitting from that as well.
