Not sure if anyone saw it but on Look East there was an article about Norwich and CH. All the fans were saying, "oh enough is enough" and such like. I did find myself saying "but have you seen the teams we've played so far?", I think there is a lot of disquiet but a lot of them aren't taking into consideration that the recent run of games has been exceptionally tough. We do have the camp who are saying "but we beat these big teams last year", they need to consider that we weren't an evolving team last year.

The crux of everything is can CH turn us into an attacking gelled outfit that scores regularly?, the next three matches will be key for determining this, in my opinion after three more matches it's ample time for any manager to develop the squad into a more offensive unit. Personally I would prefer a balance between the two, not too much all guns blazing but more of a intelligent balanced approach to each game.

All you need is some basic chords and you could turn that into a nice little support song to sing at Carrow road, that would drown out the disgruntled fans.

slightly o/t, but interesting toivonen is mentioned. i read 2 articles about him recently, one saying newcastle are after him for £2.5m in january, and one saying he is close to signing a new contract at PSV.

back to the how do we develop, i am hugely confident that the investment made in the academy and the emergence of josh murphy, and others on the edges, will stand us in good shape in the medium term. look at southampton, it is the way to go.
 
how many fans did look east interview fenland? those kind of on the spot things are always all over the place, they usually look for people who want to say things controversial.

also, have you seen lawro has given CH a big backing on his predictions this week?
 
we are a long way behind southampton in terms of the academy. i've visited their complex and its phenomenal. we might have a very good youth side at the moment but we would need to invest a hell of a lot of money to catch up with them.

there's a really good article about it somewhere which i shall now try and dig out...

ps. i wasn't suggesting you are wrong max - you are totally correct it is the way to go - i was just pointing out that saints are tough competition <ok>

as has merson. in fact, i think all the pundits have done. they can see the bigger picture that fans often don't. no doubt some will say that is because they just like hughton the man but they all look at how tough our fixtures have been and think we are in a false position

Either that or they just like him and hope we get a win, rather than actually thinking we will.
 
yes saints are way ahead of us, but something to aspire too

i don't rate merson as i think his predictions are biased, but that's good to hear.
everytime lawro predicts us to win i think we haven't (e.g cardiff), let's break that tomorrow though
 
IMO, the division in the fan base is more like 80%-20% at the moment and a win tomorrow would certainly ameliorate that. Vietnam makes an important point about focusing on performance rather than results and he has demonstrated this himself in his comments on the Chelsea and Arsenal games. The team has been rightly criticised for the latest performances in Manchester, but teams don't suddenly turn bad because of two poor performances. City certainly need a good performance tomorrow, but they also need a result. Even a draw would leave them in the relegation zone with another chance to make up ground lost. A win would be the 'result' to calm nerves and put City back on track with 11 points from 11 games. We can't wait until March to have a good run, we need one now. How the players respond tomorrow will tell us a lot about their own attitude and character, as well as how they feel about CH.
 
i don't think the division is that black and white. its more like 40% are backing him, 40% are right on the fence and 20% want rid, but ultimately if we get 6 points from the next three games i would expect him to get the whole season in charge. i agree with everything else you've said rick. we do need to start winning though. saturday is a good chance to put three points on the board, although it will be a tough game. the main thing is that the players give it their all - they haven't done that in the past two games which is not good enough. we can have no more no shows
 
Yes, I meant to put a greater degree of uncertainty into that, Supers, and I think you have it about right. Let's just hope that we havbe a win to celebrate tomorrow night!

Hopefully Johnson and Garrido won't be playing. I know I said that for the last match but look how crap Johnson was. Not sure why his form has dropped so sharply.
 
i think johnson will play, or the formation will have to be changed? i can't see us not playing 4/2/3/1 or 4/3/3 whatever it is, with west ham packing their midfield
unless howson drops back and elmander play's his position - am i missing something

But with no Tettey for months <wah>, who else do we have to play that deep midfield role. Fer, I suppose, could do it, but as he's currently our best passer of the ball, I do feel he'd be less effective in that deep position.

It would mean starting with Howson and Elmander in central midfield, which is not exactly a tried and tested combo?
 
my gut feeling is that we will drop johnson. he has been abysmal in the last week. i think we'll go with something like this:

ruddy
martin turner bassong whittaker
pilkington fer howson olsson
elmander hooper

yes thats right - two up front! i really don't think we have much choice and elmander can drop into midfield if needs be. i thought elmander did ok last weekend when he came on.
