Another cracking signing for Crawley. They might just go straight up again.

Could seriously shine at that level. Wouldn't suprise me at all if Crawley go straight up. Clubs often do that (Doncaster when they went up with us?), and when you look at how many clubs drop out the league and struggle to get back I think the gap between the conference and league 2 is very narrow.

Isn't that down to the stupid number of Automatic promotion spots?

He may be able to do better stature wise but would be be able to do better wage wise? Arent they the Man City of lower league football. Could be grabbing the cash?

Two teams get promoted, rather than the three in the other leagues, it's hardly a stupid difference in numbers.

4 in league two isn't it?

Still, I don't think it's to do with the number of promotion spots available. Most of the clubs now are fully professional and I just think the difference in the leagues is small. Look at clubs like Luton, York, Grimsby - they've all struggled to get back into the league (though my money will be on Luton this year).

You can finish 2nd and not go up. That's stupid. Playoffs are fun for the commercial side of things and they're great to win, but they're hardly a fair way to judge who the best teams are, just going solely on 2 games makes far less sense than going on the whole season. If they want to have playoffs then fine, but the 2nd team should still be going up.

Sorry, you're right, I didn't think that through - three between the PL/Championsip, three between Championship/League One, four between League One/League Two and two between League One/Conference.

I'm talking about the conference, so even though you thought you were wrong, subconsciously you managed to be right ;)

How can Crawley sustain the level of spending they have when they get such tiny crowds? Perhaps Evans put a bit away for a rainy day before then taxman called???

That's well out of order, casting aspersions at an honest, law abiding chap like Steve Evans. The only thing Crawley have in common with Boston is Evans, spending above their station and bulk buying brown envelopes.

Isn't their manager some kind of white collar criminal?
