so lets count the swansea game as the first home game since acun took over the club

we've played 53 league home games in this time
we've won 19

that's 35% home games won in 2 years in the league

that is absolutely shocking, and i feel like it should be talked about more

whats the reason?

Whats the significance of Acun taking over and that particular time scale? Ultimately there's a whole host of reasons that have changed at different points in time.

there has to be some arbitrary timeline on when to start the count from
it could go back further or less

manager change or owner change is a good way to start the counting, its obviously not in anyway shape or form a dig at acun

i also felt including since acun took over, shows it was similar with two managers and not just rosie for example

but at other clubs, there'd be far more talk about bad home form

But by making the timeline when Acun took over it seems like you're inferring he could be the problem?

how did you interpret that in anyway?

Well if I said that since Rosenior took over, we've only scored 88 goals in 73 games, what would you infer from that statement? That we score at least a goal a game or that we don't score enough goals under Rosie's management?

Really? You said yourself you could have gone back further or less. But you didn't, you decided Acun joining would be a good point to start which suggests some significance. If you're not suggesting anything like that fine, but if there isn't any significance then it's a pointless timeline no?

should i go back to 1904?

i felt like an ownership change is a good way to start counting, count it as two years home form
the point is
its terrible

also i picked it up from that 1904 podcast, no one is blaming the owner for poor home form

we don't score enough, we both know that

Looking at Acuns and his partners face... he's not happy about it..

I think it boils down to the opposition. One of the players said this week that teams are coming to us and sitting in. We do a possession based style, which means that the opposition can stay rigid and not press us which results in us being stifled. We play well against teams like Leicester, Southampton and WBA because they come and attack, they play openly which gives us room to pass the ball and packet players easily. Teams are also more open at home because they're more confident, so when we go away we find that there's more room for our tactic to shine. What we haven't done, this season or last, is work out how to break down teams that do sit in or sit off us when we have the ball. Part of it is being braver on the ball and utilising player's strengths, but most of it is changing the tactic so that you press more dynamically and become more unpredictable. The players have clearly been told to be ultra patient and wait for the opportunity to come, or to get the ball into the wings so that Omur and Philogene can do their thing. We pass the ball around the back to lure players out and take them out of the phase of play, but if teams don't fall for it, nothing will happen. The issue there is that a compact defence and midfield give our creative players no space to operate. That needs to change if we want to compete next season, and that's on Rosenior.

It isn't the first time we've had a shocking home record and a very good away one. We had this under Pearson and we went on a record breaking away streak, but at home we were average at best. This season feels more like the one under Barmby, where we flirted with the playoffs but just couldn't get over the line. We had a decent spine, we had recruited some good young players such as Brady, Chester, Evans, Stewart and Simpson, we just fell short when we needed up our game. The following season, we brought in a higher quality of player, the likes of Aluko, Stockdale, Elmo and Meyler joined and we went up.

Next season, we need our recruitment to be bringing in players that are of the same quality as Tufan, Omur, Seri and Carvalho. Sentimentality is lovely, but if you have an attitude of "oh but he's a local lad" or "but they bust a gut out there", you're not going to get promoted. You need a grafting ethic alongside quality, you can't just have one or the other.

We aren't going to see Morton next season unless Liverpool loan him back, so we need a midfielder who can be dynamic in his play and get us moving forward. Having watched a lot of him this season (and last night confirming this belief), I think Slater should be one of those midfielders. His energy, ball control and passing make him a very underrated member of the squad and we play better with him in the midfield. We talk about players stepping up from our League One campaign, but I don't see his name mentioned as often as it should be.

I agree with this post completely.

We have a good forward line - with talented players. But what about the rest of the team?

Coyle has had a great season, but we could probably do better. CM is decent but not GREAT. Jones and Greaves are a good pairing but on the whole LB and keeper positions haven’t been good enough either.

This summer is a key one to get the squad complete. If I was in charge I’d be using money towards getting Delap sorted as you know what you are getting and really getting a solid keeper and LB sorted.

We’ve had a great transition year - but the next season is the key one.

We might already have the keeper sorted for the money that's been spent on him. Hopefully we'll find out that we do.

We definitely need two full backs, and probably two centre backs as well, especially if Greaves goes and Mac isn't rated.

I'd like a midfield playmaker a la Seri and someone that can break things up if needs be.

Delap would be an amazing signing but we need to get another striker too that can pick up 10-15 goals a season. As for the other attacking options we'll need to replace the loanees or leavers with like for like on position and ability.

We'll definitely need at least 2 strikers i would've thought, surely we won't be keeping Sharp for another season and do we think Connelly will be kept on for another year? Great start to the season and good amount of goals but barely played recently even when on the bench, seems a bit of a waste of wages.
