Now, I don't think you should ever compare eras. Terry Allcock and Johnny Gavin played in a different time where the game was very different from what it is now but with holt securing 3 years and looking at the peak of his career do you think he'll hit that fabled 100 goals?

He's currently on 70 and for my money I'd bet on him challenging for the top two before he leaves, confirming him as the greatest striker we've ever had.

Say he scores 10 this season, as less of an unknown quantity, that leaves him needing 20 from 2 years where he will be increasingly a bit-part player...

I think he will get above Fleck, and might just scrape Roberts. I think Roberts is the greatest striker we've ever had anyway!

Well with another 3 years that's just 10 goals a year, plus that's in all competitions, he should get to 100. Really hope he does

Holt is better than Roberts

*Retreats Quickly*

Holt has done remarkably well. He has done his job and deserves all the plaudits. But to call him our greatest ever striker is unfair in my opinion.
One of the reasons Eric Cantona was voted Manure's greatest ever player was because the ones voting hadn't seen Best, Law or Charlton play.
Personally, the greatest striker I ever saw play for Norwich was Ron Davies 275 goals in 549 appearances. 58 in 113 for us. And if Dean Ashton had stayed, who knows.

Like I said, comparing eras is pointless. I believe it's Grant Holts "Journey" with us that proves he's the best

He's proven it at every level, he's going to have another good season I think.

I can't think of another player who has scored goals in all 3 divisions in the way that GH has done. Each year fans of opposing teams have said, "He won't be able to make the step up!!!"

Look at his goals at Stamford Bridge, Goodison Park and Anfield if you need any proof of his skill and determination!!!! <cheers>

I personally want more people saying "He's had one good season in the prem, he'll fade awawy now"

Just to make it more satisfying when he proves them all wrong for like a 4th time.

We'll soon get the 'WUMS/TROLLS' on here saying that!!!

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised to see him exceed last season's tally of 15 goals in the PL. Might even pay my local bookies a visit at the weekend.

They paid out £25 for a £5 bet last season that he'd get more than 10!!!!

PS - Don't know if you've seen any of the 'Training Camp' videos, but both he and C Martin are looking a lot slimmer!! <ok>

I think Kevin Drinkell and Chris Sutton are the two others that i'd throw into the mix.

Oh and Dean Coney of course!

..... Personally, the greatest striker I ever saw play for Norwich was Ron Davies 275 goals in 549 appearances. 58 in 113 for us .....

I would agree with that redruth. A top top centre forward. No ego, just got on with his job scoring goals. And he used to draw excellent caricatures of his fellow players; quite a talent in that respect. One thing you can compare between then and now is what players earned. In 2006 Ron Davies was living in a mobile home in New Mexico, working as a labourer for a construction company. He needed a hip replacement but couldn't pay for it; Southampton fans arranged an appeal to which Norwich fans also contributed. Sad. Tyre fitter to Premier League striker in the one case; First division striker to building labourer in the other.
