i don't care anymore, if holt thinks he's bigger than the club, then he can **** off. We shouldn't, and must never put ourselves in a position of paying more than we can afford for players, their wages or anything else. In three years we've managed to put ourselves in a strong financial position, and we must hold onto that. I've said it before, norwich city is my club, as a supporter it part belongs to me as i have invested in it as have all supporters, and no one, that is no one must ever be able to put our club in danger again.
We plucked grant holt from obscurity, and put him in a club and a team where he could flourish, to his credit he took that opportunity and did fantastically well, but, it was a team effort, not just him that brought us success. Delia brought in mcnally, who brought in lambert, culverhouse, kaksa, who brought in a host of new players. The fans filled the stadium, bought season tickets in their 10's of thousands, bought replia kits and and god knows what else from the club shops, it's our club!
So if grant holt doesn't want to be here or is trying to hold us to ransome, then it's in the best interest's of norwich city f c to sell him, and the sooner that happens the better. He is in danger of going from hero to zero in my eyes, and i now want him out!

well it does look as though the holt bid has been accepted so i think he'll be a west ham player by next week if all goes according to plan. funny thing is, west ham fans don't want him, city fans don't want him to leave... sounds like this is going to be a great move holty, well done
all for the sake of a few extra quid. footballers, eh?

It is a difficult one though.Imagine you worked for a good employer who had given you a chance but could only afford to pay the minimum wage. Then another comes along and offers you £12 an hour. What do you do?

). Besides, what gives a professional footballer the God given right to retire at an age when most of us are less than halfway through our working life ? It might due them some good to get a proper job after playing they might then appreciate the true value of money
To be fair that's a bit simplistic, Holt is alledgedly on nearer £20K per week which is probably more than what most posters on here get in a year ! If he can't accumulate enough money to retire on earning that he must be 'two bob short of a ten bob note'. (Older posters will know what I mean). First if a footballer employed Jimmy Carr's accountant then they should definately make enough to retire in a couple of years, Secondly do you believe that Holt (if he stayed) would be the same player if his heart wasn't really at the club? Wouldn't it be best to say thanks, you have gave us 3 good years so you can go if you really don't want to stay, to save any damage to the spirit of the rest of the squad.

i think in most cases you'd be right and he wouldn't be the same player, but according to holt's agent this has been rumbling on behind the scenes since before the season ended and it didn't seem to affect his performances then. i don't think it'll affect the spirit in the camp. i'm willing to leave the door ajar to him but to be honest i think we'd be better off getting rid - i think its gone too far now. plus, £5.5m is a lot of money for a 31 year old. he's a very important player for us but we'd be able to replace him with a younger striker who might give us another four or five years as opposed to two more, so it's one of those where at first it looks like a disaster, then we may actually come out of it all even stronger.
