I don't necessarily agree.Going into games like the next one with no pressure on to achieve a result might be just what is needed.Teams down in the relegation dogfight often seem to suffer from lack of confidence as much as anything.I would imagine that confidence and morale is sky high now. If you look at teams like QPR who probably need 21 points for survival compared to 10 for us where would you think those points are going to come from in only 17 games?
I've seen on the Pink un people saying that Holt doesn't like Morison, and after he crossed the ball he turned to celebrate with the fans and not Morison. Its such Horsesh1t. Yes Holt turns to the crowd, but then he turns back and sees Morison running at him and the look of L love on his little face says it all. They are enjoying the football they playing. The picture of them celebrating on this thread clearly shows that they have no problem with each other. Its all about the team, and the one person who knows that most, is Grant Holt.
hate to tell you this but i understand there is an element of truth in the holt-morison 'not getting along' thing. its not a football issue, more a personality thing. but these things often happen in football clubs - you can't always have everyone get on with each other! however, as you correctly say, the team is more important and thats all forgotten when they cross the white line
Teddy Sheringham and Andy Cole absolutely hated each other and wouldn't speak a word off the pitch - didn't stop them being one of the most successful strike partnerships in recent times though
I agree it is now unlikely we will end up relegated Cruyff, as the lengthening odds from the bookies indicate. Improbable, but nevertheless still possible. At this stage I would say we would be right to feel increasingly confident of staying up, but no more than that. But then I'm a cautious fella!
In a earlier post I said that Morison plays better and more central when Holt is on the pitch, I think yesterdays FANTASTIC goal kind of proves my point. Holt's run and cross was perfection, as was Morisons header. For me Grant Holt is a superstar, and should start every game! a_skwared, has made a relevant point about Surmans goal, he is now showing the class he's always had. But yesterday was all about the TEAM, that was a true team performance and I loved it! ILD OTBC
I'm sorry but untill there is any evidence of this it is just hearsay. I've heard it mentioned a lot but no-one has hard evidence, just analysis of body language. I'll be very surprised if they don't both start against Chelsea.
beefy, there is plenty of evidence to support it, you just have to know who to ask. anyway, as i say its pretty irrelevant - it is not about football or who starts and who doesn't. this sort of thing happens at every single club be it premier league or sunday league, so its really nothing to worry about. people don't always like each other. the important thing is they both work well together as footballers and for our club so there is absolutely no problem whatsoever in any of this
I've worked with plenty of people i've despised hasn't stopped me doing my job alongside them or with them in my team, a professional should put aside personal issues and do the job you're paid for. As these two are doing assuming there IS any issue of course
There are people who hate each in every job all the time. Just some people are sensible enough to get on with their job and not moan and so it isn't really noticed. There are probably players who don't like each other at every football club. For example, Balotelli and Richards have apparently had a few training ground scraps, but their club is full of egos so it will happen there. Lambert wouldn't let it happen at Norwich.
I agree it doesn't matter if they are best mates or not, and frankly they probably arent given that Morison has only been at the club a long time, But I honestly don't think theres any bad blood there. I'm pretty sure lambert doesn't allow that QPR BS
beefy, there is, but as i say, it has nowt to do with football, more how they choose to live their lives, thats all. they don't have to be mates to play well together
They've scored 15 goals between them this season - with stats like that, I couldn't care less if they have a daily fight in the changing rooms at Colney.
I have a feeling that it goes a bit deeper. If you watch the post match interviews with Paul Lambert, when asked about Holts impact after coming on as sub, he nearly always ignores that line and goes straight to "I thought Morison took the chance really well". I just wonder if he doesn't like the iconic status that Grant has at the club and tries to deflect that line of questioning. Also as Morison is his biggest signing, perhaps he feels has to quantify his performances. Has anyone else noticed it? It worries me a bit. ILD OTBC PS. To Superman, this is not having a go at Morison, just observations.
Hats off to the lads who have scored the other 17 then. They don't get the same publicity I'm afraid.
i have to say that is pure nonsense. lambert, as redruth says, is all about praising the team, not individuals. he's done it ever since he got here and he won't stop doing it now. he doesn't allow egos to grow. if morison struggles with his confidence a bit he gets praised - its the arm round the shoulder tactic. holt doesn't lack confidence on the pitch but is actually quite shy off it - morison is the other way around - his head is more likely to go down if things go against him. honestly, you are all looking into it far too deeply! these things happen in every line of work in the country. it is a simple matter of two people who don't necessarily see eye to eye about matters off the pitch and things certain people get up to. it has absolutely nothing to do with football at all and isn't exactly proving a problem on the pitch, is it!
Hi Redruth, I left a message for you on another thread, just to say hello really. I agree with this comment, the team is starting to produce goals from all over the pitch, which you have to say has been the norm since Lambert took over. That proves to me that we have great team work and motivation. This year so far has been magnicifent, I've seen some brilliant football and some of the best players in the world playing at Carrow Road. What more could you want, long may it carry on, I can't wait for saturday!! I have a feeling we could get something against Chelsea, I'll be there cheering them on and having a great time. ILD OTBC
