Would get more attention if it were called Jewmaica. Coincidentally the name of my kosher goat curry stall.
That’s the point I was making. If it was called hurricane Israel or Hurricane Jew, they’d be far more attention on it.
Sorry if I’ve offended you, it wasn’t my intention. I get why you think it should command more media attention and I was just stating my views on why it didn’t. Surprised by your comments around the locals not seeing anything like it as the worst storm they’ve had so far is storm Gilbert in 1988?
Hurricane Melissa made landfall in southwest Jamaica as the strongest Atlantic hurricane landfall on record in terms of pressure, tied with the 1935 Labor Day hurricane at 892 mbar. Storm Gilbert Number of deaths was low considering the intensity of the hurricane, with only 45 dead in Jamaica and hardly any injured. In the Agricultural Sector Gilbert left 2.1billion (JMD) dollars' worth of damage.
So you thought you’d jump on here and tell me it’s just an annual thing because you know someone who died in a storm and it couldn’t be any worse than that? This is pointless mate. I’m done here.
Things happen all over the world every year which doesn’t get the media coverage it deserves. Just because you were there doesn’t make it anymore a worthwhile event to the media. Google hurricanes in that part of the world and then come back and tell me it doesn’t happen annually. Losing a single life or property is a tragedy, for you to witness the devastation is tragic. If you choose to take offence at what I thought was a civil conversation says more about you than me.
