    Just google it mate: https://www.japancampers.com/

My kid did Japan, but he would have done all the expensive stuff, traditional type things for accomodation.

If I remember when I next see him, I'll ask. He aint going to know nowt about campers though.

Thanks man. Yeah the whole traditional Japanese culture thing really appeals, so I'd like to stay somewhere like that at least for a few nights.

The camper thing is great as it's your travel and accommodation. But yeah I'd appreciate you asking your lad about his experiences. <ok>

I've been to quite a few of the Greek Islands, but don't think I've done that one. Looks nice in the pics, remind me when you going?

Yea, went to Japan was raining for most of it.

It was still great though. I think there would have been more things that i would have liked to have done.

Tokyo - big city, lots of different places, people dressed up, i think a lot of the things you can visit are free (temples, tall building to view the city). It was interesting but just like another city to me. I know some people love it. I can send you itinerary if you want.

Osaka - nice big castle in the middle surrounded by a moat. City was nice

Kyoto - must go, its not your typical city. It's an old city with a lot of old architecture. Pretty amazing place to visit. You might get lucky to spot an old school geisha. There are a lot of different temples there as well and i would recommend those over tokyo. Gold and silver temple are both cool. Then theres a bamboo forest (also a temple there but didn't visit it). One in the mountains and with orange tori gates. They are all pretty unique and its not like seeing one church and you have seen them all.

There are hotspring villages further up north i think and maybe south but if you want one near tokyo theres Hakone. If the weather is good, you'll see mount fuji, experience the hotsprings and we stayed at a pretty cheap ryokan which had its private hot spring and you sleep on the floor as it's a traditional inn. You can get a pass that takes you around hakone (tram, cable car, boat).

Not sure about camper van, but my bro in law hired recently and car and went driving around. He said its easy and everyone drives nicely.

Cost wise it was pretty expensive when i went but the Yens has taken a pummeling so its significintly cheaper than when i went (25% cheaper). Accomodation is pricey though.

We didn't go but theres a studio ghibli world near tokyo i think. That would be nice for your daughter but i think you need to book like a month in advance or something.

    and this <ok>

Love the idea of a Ryokan and hot tubs in the mountains.

I'd heard that accommodation is expensive, which is why I'm looking for other options. What was the price of eating out ? I guess it varies like every country, but ball park for a reasonable meal for 2 ?

this was 8 years ago when i went but i reckon you can get a meal for a 10 - 15 quid on average. I thought it was reasonable but i am foodie so we also went to more expensive places.
