I am off for a city break with the mrs in July to Barcelona. Just a few nights.

Any recommend stuff to do? Just general sight seeing stuff.
Love Barcelona

Nice place to just mooch round tbh, but there’s a few obvious places

Sagrada Famila is stunning. Get a ‘jump the queue ticket if you’re there at a busy time. Got to go inside.

Same at Park Guell. Jump the queue ticket as queue is huge. It’s just a big park with sculptures etc but we enjoyed it.

You have to do La Ramblas. It’s not quite as I imagined because I assumed it was pedestrianised but that’s only the bit in the middle as there’s roads either side. Nice places to drink and people watch though (people say it’s a bit pick pockety but we’ve never had issues) Nice market half way down there which was great for a wander round and a few drinks. Seafood looked amazing and there are tapas places to sit and drink etc. seafood not our thing, but there was even things for us. Nice bustling place though.

Haven’t been in Casa Batllo but that’s stunning from the outside too. Gaudi architecture init.

I like the bars round the city walls (I think that’s were they are…little winding streets near the middle anyway. )

Area round the marina and old fishing houses as ok too if you want to kill time

I understand they have a half decent football team too…

When I went on La Ramblas , some random youth pushed my wife and started shouting randomly , turns out there was a gang of them a bit further back …my wife wouldn’t say boo to a goose - I turned back to confront them and this old local bloke grabbed my arm to stop me, said don’t , and did a slit throat gesture .., football stadium was good though <laugh>

Thank you.

I'm the twat who forgot to book travel insurance straight away :emoticon-0107-sweat
Oh no
Have you been in contact with them?
Sometimes they’re happy to change dates without too much cost.
Particularly if you don’t tell them you’re not insured, but just say you might (leave your options open) have to cancel but you’d rather change the date instead.
Worth a try even if you move it to a holiday next year?

You should always walk Las Ramblas but not with real intent...

Absolutely gutted.

So on Tuesday my partners 13 year old daughter was pushed over my lad at school and fell and fractured her wrist.

She went to fracture clinic today to be told she has displace fracture and needs a operation to reset it and wire it.

She'll have the operation by Tuesday and need the wires taking out in 4 weeks time.

We fly to Rhodes 4 weeks today.

We're
Speak to the Hospital on Tuesday, maybe they can work round it in terms of when they need to remove the wires? Sometimes these things happen, they're unavoidable and the Hospital can probably move things around to allow you your Holiday?

I’ve just flown in to Vigo this afternoon
Dumped pack and straight to Vigo v Sevilla
Good game
Sending off and Vigo win 3-2
Same score Marseilles beat Lyon when I went there
I should hire myself out to teams!!

going to mooch round Vigo tomorrow and start the Camino tomorrow
Not a bad view from the air bnb

Buen Camino!

Ultreia!

Las Ramblas is amazing, we once turned into a little courtyard and street performers were performing lol, some fantastic acts, BGT level. You are so right about the market. Absolutely adore Barcelona, the footie team are **** though lol….

Barcelona is the best city to visit in Europe, I visit almost every year, sometimes twice in a year. Just be careful, last couple of years petty theft is very common. Take care of your belongings, don't use back pocket of pants, do not leave your jackets on chair, don't put your phone on the table while eating in crowded area etc.

I’ve never understood anyone who puts anything in a back pocket…how do they sit down?!

<laugh>

Who carries a wallet anymore though?!

Got your phone you’ve got your money (plus some cash stuffed in that funny little pocket in your jeans for emergencies.)

Travel lightly, drink heavily…<cheers>
Very few will be surprised to learn that I still carry a wallet, no, it's not made of dinosaur skin. :emoticon-0138-think
