You don’t tip for anything in Japan, a worker considers it his duty to always provide an exceptional service, so it’s deemed unnecessary and they can be offended if you’re not aware of it.

I was actually aware of it before I went, but completely forgot and without thinking handed a note to the bloke who took my to my hotel room, he wasn’t impressed.
So they realise they are already compensated by their employers for what they do , good, seems my kind of place <laugh>

Did he take it, or tell you where to shove it?

Just had three days in Kalavryta, Greece, including two days skiing and a one-hour snowmobile tour. Lovely town with a dark history as it was the scene of the worst (I think) Nazi massacre in Greece when all the town’s menfolk were executed in December 1943 (although it was also the cradle of the Greek revolution in the previous century). You go past the execution site on the way to the ski area. Snow levels were amazing (needed a 4x4 to access the town) and ski pass only £20 per day - free for over 70s. But snow is usually hit and miss in Greek ski areas so you need to book at the last minute.

Got a Greece trip booked, done many islands and one of our last islands to tick off is Kefalonia so giving it a go this year.

Always read this thread and take tips from it. We've not done Cornwall before so doing a longer trip there. First week we've booked into the Lizard Peninsula after a recommendation on here, cottage in Cadgwith. Second week up on the north coast in a village between Padstow and Tintagel. Should allow enough time to explore it all.

There are 230 inhabited Greek islands so you’ve been busy!
