Close ishClose to home? Do you live in Gibraltar Askew?
Local life. There is some tourist activity but it's not intrusive. Unlike Marrakech you are not pestered by young lads offering you guided tours, best prices at their cousin's shop, etc. It isn't overrun with museums and the like but there are interesting, historical things to take in, google it. It isn't a big place though, good size for a relaxing break for a week imo.So is it local life you can watch go by or tourist’s? Anything cultural nearby?
Looking for some winter sun close to home

Did Jet2 to Nice in August, loved it, great train service across the south from Nice?Marseilles
Jet 2 don’t go there

Used to love my work trips up to Glasgow. Journey time qualified, just, for using business class. Rail journey there always good. Meetings held in city centre. Nice venues, nice hotels, nice restaurants, good company, interesting meeting topics. And getting very well paid for it. One of the very few things I perhaps miss about work.Long weekend in Glasgow.
Cracking gig, good pubs and some nice food.
Train journeys surprisingly efficient.
Highlight of journey might have been the train lady pouring us both a glass of wine from a new bottle, because Mrs Tash wasn’t drinking so I knew I could have both, and then deciding she’d just leave us with the rest of the bottle anyway![]()
Went there last fall really enjoyed it. Facinating and interesting Medina. Meal and hotels very reasonable. Restaurant food can be excellent depending on where you choose and is not a funciton of price. Was there for about 6 nights which I thought was just the right amout of time. Great beach for walking and water warm enough for a swim and Watersports if you are into that (Kiteboarding, surfing etc. but can be a big shorebreak so not so good fro Winging). For winter sun I'd always look at Essaouira in Morocco. Been there a couple of times now at the back end of the year. Not too far, weathers good, locals welcoming, plenty of hotel and food options and enough to see and do for a week, even if it's just strolling around or sitting in the old town drinking coffee and watching life go by.
Post of the week.Flying out to my daughter’s villa near competa 50mins from Malaga on 13th November, cannot bloody wait. Unfortunately I was originally going alone to watch the two grandkids, seemed like heaven, but the Mrs red burst my ****ing fantasy ballon and decided to come… **** !!! I’d arranged a few video calls to someone special back in Ull. well that’s not gonna ****ing happen now….
I dreamt of release
now I’ll get no ****ing peace
I could’ve been alone and happy
but now with a wife far too yappy
The days will now drag
sat with a miserable old bag
Two weeks in the sun
Oh what the **** have I done… I could go on
It’s late and I’m knackered….**** sake !!!!!
Wrap. Up warm ernieWe're away to India and Nepal in the New Year.
Anyone been?
Any tips or advice?
