I always thought Jim Capaldi was often overlooked in the 'great drummer' stakes. Not one for big solos but the cement that held songs together, always seemed to know what a song needed.
Ah yes, fogot about Capaldi. Remember him mostly with Traffic. Played with many other top musicians. Excellent backing.

Lots and lots of recommendations. Corinth. Epidavros. Nafplio. Nemea. Mani. Methoni. The list goes on!
Went to Corinth, took a look at theti Canal, an impressive engineering feat and a wonderful sight to see the boats going thru. Did Ancient Corinth and afterwards climbed Acrocorinth-fabulous view from the top of both the Saronic and Corinthian Gulfs. Stayed in Nafplio while there went to Epidavros-impressive and still in use today. Liked Nafplio and enjoyed cllmbing up the 750 stairs to the top of the defending fort-glad i was not carrying a bloody big broad sword. Drove the Mani pennisula to Movevasia then on to Limeni. Stayed in Stoupa for a few nights which was a favorite of my deceased brother, lots of Brits there suspect we were the only Yanks-a lovely spot. Drove to Pylos and on the way stopped at Ancient Messini which has impressive ruins and a fairly intact running track with a gymnasium. And the remains of their version of Albert Ave that had heated floors and walls and was in use for over a 1000 years. Always amuses me that the Romans had central heating in Britain but the recipe was lost when they left and we did not get it back until the 1960's or theraabouts. Visited Methoni with its impressive Fort. Ended up for our final 4 nights on the Athens Riviera was there on a holiday weekend with the weather warm so the whole of Athens turned out and the dual carriage way that circles the coast was a racetrack with plenty of speed records being broken by all and sundry. While there visited the Temple of Poseidon another impressive site on the top of a prominotory-unfortunately i did not manage to find Lord Byrons Grafiti signnature.
Thanks for the tips.

Anyone done the Malay Pennisula. Was there for 2.5 years in 63 to 65 and for a short spell in 2000. Would like to check it out and reminisce. i understand there are some wondeful resorts etc on the east coast above Singers.

If your kids fancy surfing consider Morocco. Essaouira and Taghazout are said to be the places to go. I've been to Essaouria at Xmas and enjoyed it, I'm no surfer but my daughter had a go and enjoyed it.

Was reading about a centre of culture with many attractions voted one of the best destinations in the world. Might be worth giving it a try . Place called Hull.

Depends what floats your boat.
We went in March. There’s some lovely windswept beaches, Santa Maria is a nice town, but little else to do. Need to.be careful as food poisoning is rife.

I’d second that. Been to both Sal and Boa Vista, you can see everything in half a day. Wife suffered from food poisoning on the second trip eating the basic hotel food. Won’t be going back again.

Step daughter went last year. Think they were advised to stay within the resort grounds. Nice hotel but not a lot to do/see outside of that as I understand.

anywhere in greece is the best for winter sun id say

You don't really get winter sun anywhere in Europe, if you want guaranteed winter sun you need to go further, I've done Christmas in the Caribbean, India and Mexico, the Caribbean was best but it's pricey and some of the islands (particularly Jamaica) are in a mess at the moment.

Going down to Kotor Montenegro in a couple of weeks, I remember it was a topic of conversation on here a little while back, somebody had been.

Thing is the weather could just as easily be 25 as 0 typically it's somewhere in the middle.
Spent a day in Kotor last month during our Adriatic cruise, beautiful place, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
( We had lovely sunny weather as well!)
