Carrick made himself unavailable for selection. Barry has been rubbish in the past but is in good form for City.

Carrick hit thirty and plays for Man Utd...

 

I don't have a link sorry, I heard it on a podcast (either Guardian or Times). Apparently Carrick gave Roy an ultimatum that unless he was guaranteed to start then he didn't want to go. So I don't blame Roy for leaving him (even if he had intended to start him).

As a Spurs fan, I hope Parker doesn't play. I think he needs the rest. But I feel certain the best England team pairs Barry and Parker.

 

Didn't Carrick rule himself out because he didn't want to be a bit part player? Like he didn't want to be on the reserve list with the likes of Henderson etc. Regardless of your opinion on Carrick, he's built for international competition. He doesn't fit the prototypical run the other team tongue ground English midfielder, so he doesn't get selected.
