I wouldn't quite say 'ran out of excuses', but of all the transfer windows in recent times this is the one where he can make the biggest statement of intent. It'll be severely disappointing if he doesn't capitalise. As you say though, judgement should be reserved until the window closes.
I think every fan will be disappointed if the squad isn't improved this transfer window. The club have gone out on a limb making bold statements about having money to spend. Now is the time to spend

The same thing that happens every year. Fans go mental, calls for Wenger and/or the board's heads. Very angry toned AGM in which the fans are fed more lies followed by a season of struggle where we end up finishing 4th and assure the fans that next Summer will be different and we will show why we are the 'most ambitious club in the world'.
So are you saying that Geoff is employed by the club to lie on Twitter with the sole purpose of alienating the club's supporters ?

By making such statements they have now committed to spending. If they don't they will look like fools.

Yes, to you it might mean that. But the world does not revolve around you, so next time don't take my comment out of context.

Wow, you're actually moron aren't you? Incredible.

Someone please tell me that I'm not the only one that sees the error in his terminology?

By lying about the club's ambition and linking us to big name players like Ramires, Fabregas, Mata, Rooney and Oscar, the fans get excited and believe that Arsenal are making a genuine attempt to compete at the top again.

Geoff said 2 days after SAF made it public Rooney wanted out that we were in for him. And yes fans will be pissed off at the end of the transfer window but you can't renew your season tickets in say December and you can't buy Emirates Cup tickets in say February. I doubt Stan, Ivan and co give a **** how much they are hated as long as they cough up the cash and most of it is coughed up in the 3/12 months where fans are manipulated into believing they mean business.

Seems like a belief without substance to me. After all, why bother putting a guy with 60,000 Twitter followers on the payroll when you can leak info to the papers (with their much larger readership) for free?

... talk nonsense to make the fans happy and give them the notion that "we tried" which is pretty much what Arsenal have told us for the last 2 Summers in particular.

this is not supported by facts, on contrary - Arsenal keep their unsuccessful attempts to buy players under wraps. 2 seasons ago when we lost Fabregas our priority was to replase him and we tried to get Cazorla, and were close only for the deal to be highjacked by then rich Malaga. Arsenal had not said a word about it, in spite of fans moaning that we had not replaced our playmaker. It became public a year later when we actually got Cazorla. This is what we know now as facts. All that you are trying to say is based on rumors and press speculations that most of the time have nothing to do with the club. You presume that media rumors are based on leaks from the club, this is not true. Agents often contact Arsenal, offer their players, the club syas "it depends on the price and other factors" and this is enough for these agents to tell the journalists that the club is interested or trying to buy their players. Clubs always prefer to keep their offers private to avoid a bidding war and agents want to make it known, for the exactly opposite reason.

My mate Geoff who's a glass collecter at the bar down the local dog track is more ITK than this Geoff Arsenal fella

And my mate Geoff gets his info from reading the wet tobacco leaves that have been stubbed out in the beer dregs at the bottom of the glass.
