Apparently the sudden departure of Harnandez was because he wanted a 3 year extension which the club refused. He was happy to stay if he'd been offered an extra 2 years on top of the one remaining year, reasonable enough I would have thought, considering we offered Tatey a 4 year deal even though he wasn't in the team at the time. Was Harnandez Possibly forced out.

Where did that info come from? Sounds reasonable Nd should lead to. reasonable transfer fee.

Gary Monk also says in that interview the wage demands were very high, so if we got a good transfer fee I can understand why the club took it.

Disagree he's too injury prone, Monk also said his wage demands were too high, hence why he's chased the money to the Middle East.

Shame really - I had high hopes that Pablo would be a real asset this season. I agree he's injury prone though. He's very small and not very robust. Glass legs.

Personally I thought he was a luxury player. On occasions he was excellent, but often he was swept aside by physically stronger players. I don't think he was consistent enough to warrant a three year contract.

Just because someone says all this in an interview doesnt mean its true . Players and managers say things after departures for the sake of it most times.

Reported as 'The fee involved is undisclosed, but it is thought Swansea have received only a fraction of the £5.55 million they paid Valencia for Hernandez two years ago.'

Now being reported on wales online that Hernadez went very cheaply and we are going to pay Canas to get him off our books... & pay 7m for defender...bizarre ...Swansea way!!

What doesn't make sense to me is why wouldn't Hernandez just sit out his final year here and then sign a 3 year deal in the gulf for even more money?
Why did he feel he needed to go now?

Given the reported circumstances I'm glad he went now and we could put some money towards Montero....although it doesn't sound like we got much.

I like Montero and Hernandez was injured a lot, but this summer is costing us money.

The clearout has cost us a lot of money in reduced transfer fees, how much we do not know,it's all undisclosed for that reason. But what we have done is moved out a lot of the high earners, freeing up the wage bill to get better players in.

While they earned high wages I doubt Fab, Gomis, Siggy and Montero will be on starvation rations. With new deals for Ash and Ki (probable) and with talk of three more high earners on the horizon I would expect our wage bill to be significantly higher.
We have also lost money (potential) on transferring players out on the cheap and buying (some in and some on the way) high.

Our starting 11 + 2 looks quite strong but coping with an injury list like we had last season would, IMO, be nigh on impossible.
