Fabianski has looked very good in the air during per season and has added some needed presence in the box
Gomis has replaced Michu and is very strong, quick, skillful and can hold the ball up well for others
Gylfi is a replacement for JDG and in a different league all together
Montero for Pablo, very excited about this signing
Fulton/Someone else for Canas - Fulton more than held his own in his appearances
Emnes for Pozuelo. Emnes had by far a greater impact and influence on games than Poz did here
Fernandez is a huge upgrade on Chico and comes in with a world class pedigree
Taylor for Ben - If Taylor can get back to the form under BR then we'll be fine, hopefully another signing at LB.

So I say again, I believe that we have had a great transfer window, and we have added some real quality to our squad.

So are you saying that Canas and Pablo are better than Leon and Routs based on stats? I'm sorry but give me Routs and Leon everyday of the week before those two.

How can you compare the Rooney situation to ours? He was given £300,000 a week. Of course he was going to stay.

I think Canas will still be here after he was given a squad number because everything surrounding his exit is strange. At least we have heard what the others were alleged to have said/done etc, but nothing with regards to why Canas has been frozen out has come to light, unless he wants to leave.

I appreciate your point and if every player asked to go then we would be deep in the mire, but it was only a few, our Spanish contingent (and Ben) who wanted out.

As I see it bob, the choice Monk faced was to keep them all or let them all go. If we kept them then we could have been facing a second season with a divided squad and divided loyalties, only perpetuating the troubles of last season. By adhering to their requests a fresh start could be had by all, Us and them.

I think it was right for them and us to shake hands and move on in life. Another advantage is that there is enough money and now space, to dust ourselves down, freshen up the squad and go again.

Monks is a rookie and has much to learn, but as I see it, his appointment brings much needed stability to our volatile club.

    See your point.

Don't be too sure Ben wanted to leave!

According to Monk they all wanted to leave, and he rightly didn't want players who are not 100% committed to playing for Swansea, so that's good enough for me, and he made his point very clear regarding Michu as well, and the sooner we get the waster of our books the better!...........<ok>

It takes a very good man manager to persuade want-away players that they'd be better off staying. Easiest option in the world to throw your hands up and let them go, though Rodgers proved it can be done.

    ...but Monk ain't no Rodgers.

I would not put Ben in the category of wanting to leave and put him in a good opportunity presented itself. He was happy with us and it was Taylor who threatened to leave if Ben stayed. (he has lost many fans respect by his attitude) We definitely need another quality LB anyway but it's one of those positions that are very far and few out there. I did not want Ben to go but i can see it was an opportunity he could not turn down...

Anyone who goes back on his word, and doesn't honour his contract the way Michu so petulantly demonstrated, the child, is as far as I'm concerned a waster, and as for Laudrop, how many games did he win? he was only successful up to the cup, after that he fell off a cliff, he's bloody rubbish as a manager, and bloody good as a player, but that was another era, Laudrop the manager is a loser!...<cheers>

Why are you trying to provoke people here? You know full well this subject is divisive so why not get a life, Phill? You're sounding more like that bloody awful Daiswan every day. People have had enough of the Laudrup v Monk debate. I think so anyway.

You seem like a decent poster when you put your mind to it.

Judging by your previous posts unearthed by Terror you'll change your mind a few games into the season anyway. <laugh>

I know Monk is not a popular choice on here and to some extent I can relate to that, but my word there has been some rubbish thrown his way and Huw's on this forum, so much garbage for the guy that saved our season and Premier League status, so if it falls on me to balance the utter tripe that is thrown Monk and Jenkins way then so be it, I've noticed that our Moderator Valley has pulled up Vetch numerous times for his slagging off of Monk, good job the season kicks off tomorrow, and when Monk starts winning games, perhaps the Laudrop girls will disappear into the powder room.....................<laugh>

What a bare faced liar you are Phil. Just where have I "slagged off" Monk?

Get your head out of your arrogant ass,and start by recognising that if anyone on this forum does any "slagging off" - IT'S YOU.

YOU have been remorselessly "slagging off" Martinez and Rodgers, for years, and Laudrup has come under your cosh ever since he left, and before that,if my memory holds.

There's an odiousness about your posting these days, and it just gets worse.

Why not get Valley to produce the posts where I "slagged off" Monk.

Re Monk and Jenkins, and the apparent "rubbish" and "tripe" thrown their way.

Do you not understand the principle of opinion, whereby individuals can express THEIR concerns, feelings, beliefs, desires, etc.? I don't think you do. You need to be an adult to comprehend that.

It's a sad day when we all have to read the "tripe and rubbish" emanating from you and the other North Gower neighbour of yours, and then be expected to agree with every nonsensical word of it.

I,for one, will pass, and continue to express my opinions, and leave YOU to do the "slagging off" since you are clearly an expert on that particular field.

Kindly desist from using my name in your contemptuous postings. I will henceforth treat you with the contempt you deserve.

They must be adding something in the water on North Gower. <laugh>

    I don't, as after all.

Siggy played in the AM role yesterday which was Michu's role.
    Gomis replaced Bony
Montero is a winger, and thats what Pablo was

The only one I had to makeshift was Emnes with JDG, as Emnes seems more forward thinking than JDG. But I stand by the other 3 at least.

If you have read my post wrong, then directly spoke about my post in the wrong manner (like above), then I will tell you that you have read it wrong. I interpreted your post as a saying I was acting hypocritical, so get used to me defending my point of you, if you cannot do that, with all due respect, your in the wrong place, this is a forum for discussions, and if you mis-read or misinterpret my point of view, then I will explain that you have done so.

Did you miss the point of my post? Yes you did, so do tell, where have I made you feel that I am intellectually superior? I guess for the 2nd post in a row, that is down to your interpretation and nothing more. I am the first to admit I am far from intelligent. And if it was not for Google spell-checker, you would see that too ;)

BK is one of the most mild-mannered posters here and his history is one of posting sensible, well-observed comments. So swanselona stop throwing your weight around and being so argumentative and provocative. You seem to take umbrage at anyone who disagrees with you so it's rather ironic you pointing out "it's a forum". You're a mod and should know better. Take a leaf out of Valley's book and you'll live longer. <ok>

Your posts drip sarcasm of late (who says "do tell"?) or outright nastiness ("you're talking ****!") so I can see where BK is coming from. It's worthy of note that those who have stirred things up like DragonPhil and plastic have had a deserved 4 day ban and things have been much more harmonious since. Don't spoil it.

By the way Lib - post of the week for me. <applause><applause><applause>

I know BK is one of the most mild mannered posters, I have no issues with BK, but that does not change that he misunderstood my post. What he said makes me out to have posted in a hypocrital manner, which was not what I did. So of course I am going to point it out. Or are you telling me I have no right to take umbrage with that?

I should know better? A bit rich coming from someone who has yet too provide proof or apologise for comments you made about something you thought I said.

As for my mod status, your sort really grip my s**t with your whole "you're a mod". If you don't like it, complain, feel free, I have no problems if you want too, I would rather you did than think you cannot.

Answer me something, have I used abusive language towards BK, have I been offensive to BK? If so, please do quote it.

I am sarcastic in RL too, I ain't changing for the likes of you, its what makes me, well me. Like it or lump it, I don't care.

Normally I wouldn't bring it up, but seeing as you cannot help yourself, in regards to the "your talking s**t" comment, its because you were........You still have not apologised, or provided proof of something you accused me of saying. So yes, you were talking s**t, and I stand by that. How you can sit there and pick on what I say, when your far from squeaky clean yourself makes me laugh. Would you have preferred me saying "your talking crap", "your talking rubbish". Let me know for future reference, so it will save me from having to deal with your holier than thou attitude.

Back to the whole umbrage, the only thing I take umbrage too is people claiming I said something I did not, whether by misinterpretations or in your case, poor memories.

Was I a bit OTT with my response to BK, maybe, was he OTT in his post that makes out I am a hypocrite, I think so, else I wouldn't have responded the way I did. BK has a right to not be happy with the manner of my post, and I have no issue's with that, just as I have a right to be upset with the manner of his post. But that is between me and BK, nothing to do with you.

I apologise in advance for swearing, but Dragon bringing up what happened in a previous thread winds me up when he has not been man enough to apologise or prove it. He instead did the cowardly thing and did, nothing.....yet sits there telling me what I should do. Good luck with that one.
