I don't have an antivirus, only *****s gets viruses. MS Security Essentials works fine, or just get superantispyware or Malabytes and run a scan every week or 2. Otherwise, install Ubuntu and boot from that, it can't get viruses
There's nothing to get your sphincter twitching quite like that first time you get the message from 'Interpol' saying they've locked your computer.
Superantispyware didn't work either. Just added to the pop ups if anything. Keeps prompting me to scan even though I scanned a minute ago.
Ye'll have to do it the hard way then. Track down suspicious processes in the task manager (google their names). Make a list of the processes you have identified as bad guys. Boot into safe mode, search and destroy all references to the bad guys in the registry, also check other boot and ini files. Reboot. Still got problems? Do it all again. Simpler to reformat your disk partitions and re-install the operating system, cos ye'll probably **** the operating system up anyway by mucking around in the registry if yer not careful.
Take it to PC World on Finnieston Street bealy. Ask for Kevin. Give him 50 quid cash and tell him to fix it and give him a wee wink. You'll be sorted within 24 hours
Have you tried putting it in your washing machine, Bealey? Put it on 'No Fast Colours' and skip the spin cycle.
Cannae be arsed reading the whole thread. I take it system restore won't work for whatever reason? If that's not been suggested and you can't locate the malware in safe mode, just system restore to a date before your machine caught internet AIDS.
System restore, like wot Bib said. Then go onto www.download.com and look for the most popular, free ad removal tool. Used to be adaware. free and cleans the show up. Ya mucky puppy.
