He is a young player from non-league, who is alwasy getting better the more he plays - this run in the side has really improved him and he is only going to get better. Can't see Seaborne coming back with us, so I think Martin will be ahead of him and he has a bright future in the game.

I'm sorry but Martin has one bad game where everyone else plays badly and some people jump on his back. He has potential to be a very good CB. He's 22 for gods sake - give him a chance to develop under Adkins. Harding played just as badly against Leicester but as he's not a CB or the keeper it doesn't matter.

22 is not that young, i believe the same age as Dan Seaborne who alot of Saints fans are quick to slate. Admittidly the whole team were poor against Leicester, but the mistakes made my Martin were basic mistakes such as turning his back on the ball.

But there goes you're discussion. He's not first choice. he is back up. We have had 4 CBs out and he is playing.

You are criticising a 4th choice player and that is unfair

Which is why i asked people to judge him as a player, not as our fourth choice centre back.
 
I can't belive that some people on here have such a poor view about Aaron Martin I think he's gaining confidence and is a very capable player I'm wondering if some of you guys actually go to the macthes?????????????

Exactly! If Adkins didnt think he had the potential, he wouldn't have given him a long term contract, he would have signed someone on loan when Seaborne got injured and Martin would be off the boat swimming for safety - but no, adkins has been happy with Martin, and always praises him when he plays

I think Martin playing is more a case of needs must. Due to injuries we have had no choice but to play him. And with regards to signing a long term contract would i not be correct in saying that it was a clause in his original contract that meant he could stay an extra year if he chooses? I may be wrong.

Have to agree that it seems Martin has only been called up this season to cover the injuries. Jaidi, Seaborne then
Fonte. I think if he was 2nd choice he would of played in front of Hoover when he arrived after Seabornes injury.

Adkins was also reported as saying the other day that he may of been on the look out all season for a CB !
For a back up player he does as well as we can expect. Can be hard when you only get a chance when others are injured otherwise you bench warm. he has been lucky to get the shirt and a short spell in the team lately due to Fonte's toe
