In the absence of any meaningful football, we begin to focus on other matters.
It's come up to that time of year again where thoughts turn to having a break from the grind. Managed to get my usual cottage down in the Dartmouth area for a week starting Saturday, but am in a bit of a quandry about next week.
I've been instructed to get things ready to load in the car, and always the first thing to go in the storage well under the rear floor are the required refreshments for the week. No problem with the evenings - half a dozen (plus!) assorted bottles of Cotes du Rhone/Chianti/Rioja will sort that out, it's the daytime I'm concerned about with the uncertain weather predicted.
Will it be an extra 24 pack of Peronis or a couple of bottles of Dalwhinnie Winter Gold? Terrible predicament to be in because I hate making such important decisions, so it'll probably be both. That's it then - bets suitably hedged.
Saturday morning load up the rest of the gear and the four dogs and I'll be off to the English Riviera. Relaxed in the knowledge that I won't have to worry about City in the playoffs whilst I'm down there this year. Nor will I be worried I'd made the right choice of oblivion inducement - bliss.
