Time to ponder: some are getting pretty forthright that their opinion is fact.
"Wolf! Bloody Wolf!"
"Wolf! Bloody Wolf!"

If it was a takeover, what would we be looking at? Around £60m to buy Leeds? Maybe even a low £30m? People struggling to raise money to buy Rangers and Watford, what does that tell you? If there was someone with serious money trying to buy out Bates would they shut up about it? No, they would turn up the pressure on Bates and get public support aligned. If someone had £30m plus to invest I somehow don't think they'd take orders from Bates but rather they would be pushing the buttons and controlling the negotiations. As it stands, it is investment for a share, that's it. The only way it can become a takeover bid is if the investors get additional partners in with extra cash to force Bates to walk. I would love a takeover as much as any Leeds fan, but for now its not happening.
I would not offer opinion with this amount of depth. My opinion would simply be...**** OFF BATES!!!!

*UPDATE* Bates close to agreeing deal!! Right, so I've now been told the deal is close, and Bates will hand over power. It should have been concluded on Sunday, but Bates wanted to think about it for a few days and discuss with Harvey "to be certain it is in the best interests of the club." Sale is imminent

Lads, remember who Billy's reporting on. It's bastard Bates, and Bates has probably changed his mind 100 times in the last couple of months. Billy has probably reported the truth of the day at every stage, so to speak. I'm more inclined to think that it's Bates (irrational!!) behaviour that's at the core of the different statuses, not Billy's sauces.
I still remember Boab taking a pasting, especially for the Lambert to Villa story. He was right in the end too!! Not one word of apology, either!
I think what I'm trying to say is that each of us on this board reports what we hear in good faith. No info is given maliciously or to wind people up. Personally, I like hearing rumours - it makes my day a little more interesting. So chaps, by all means disagree with a posting, but don't do it to a point where our posters just give up to avoid yet another pasting. I needs my days to be a little more interesting!
Elmo,
I'd like to draw your attention to your comment on post #21 ... "Time to ponder: some are getting pretty forthright that their opinion is fact".
Then I'd like to draw your attention to your comment on post #31 ... "we know it's about a takeover".
Sauce?
The words pot, kettle & black spring to mind.
The club did not use 'takeover', it used the phrase 'long term investment', therefore this is not a source at all.
I concede that LUST initially declared that their understanding was that the engaged party was INTENDING to have takeover talks - but that was before Bates started negotiating with them! It could all have changed by now, thanks to Bates, so it is incorrect to assume that it is definitely STILL about a takeover - Bates may have made it a no-go. I therefore suggest that at the present moment, it is NOT FACT that it is about a takeover, hence 'pot, kettle & black' remains a legitimate comment. So, effectively, you are presenting your opinion as fact.
I also think too many people are believing too much of what LUST are saying. I assumed at the start that LUST were the ones behind introducing the prospective buyer with Bates, however they know as much as the rest of us.Mate, the chairman of LUST has recently come out and said it is definitely 100% a takeover being discussed.
