Bit like zero hours getting thrown about forgetting it was the labour government that brought it in.
Use of foodbanks has gone up from tens of thousands to over a million since the Tories came to power. Sickening.
Not disagreeing. Its the result of the economic crisis and the measures implemented to counteract that crisis.
Living in Hartlepool, I don't think I've ever had as many Labour people knocking on my door or leaflets through the door before this election. I think the result shows just how pissed off people are with Labour. The town voted for Brexit but the party said that the people who voted were wrong plus the local council of or was (before today's results) a majority of Labour which milked the town for what they can get which may have been on people's minds. Personally Labour is so far away from the party I grew up with, looking out for the working man which was the reason the North was a red stronghold. I actually voted for a local candidate, someone who lived in Hartlepool, know what was needed and who would put the town before the party - both main parties parachuted a candidate in who probably never set foot in the town before this election. Basically I think people have had enough
But not as a norm. Tories have taken these things way beyond what they were originally designed for.
It only takes a quick Google search:

So, as this obviously needs explaining, he was saying that the charitable act of providing a foodbank (i.e. people taking care of other people) was uplifting, not that he found the fact that (as your hilarious cartoon implied) people needed to use them uplifting. Most people find charitable acts uplifting.
Genuine question. Is it the Conservatives who have done that or is it unscrupulous business owners who have done that?

Hmm not forgetting of course rees-mogg is a cnut and the number of food banks have hugely increased hugely in the past 10 years....

Although tbf Corbyn and Rees mogg could form their own lunatic cnuts party... quite a few from all parties would be eligible for that, although tbf again probably more tories than Labour.

Totally agree he's an unpleasant character but I've noticed that he quite often gets misquoted. Probably because he is a detestable twat. Not trying to defend him at all, I just can't stand the partisanship or the inaccuracy of these things.
But not all unscrupulous business owners vote Conservative. This idea that Conservatives don't have a social conscience is another myth.

Bollocks, it is exactly the same as Marie Antoinette's famous reply of "Let them eat cake" when told that the "peasants" were starving as they had no bread. Can I ask why these million people needed to use a foodbank in the first place as we all pay into a welfare state to provide for those in need of help?
Genuine question for people regarding funding for the main parties. Would you prefer the Tories with the rich benefactors trying to affect policy or Labour with the union oligarchs trying to run things behind the scenes? For me unions used to be a good thing at least at the ground floor. I was left unimpressed with the miners strike with my dad's opinion on Scargill but when I needed a union backing me it's representative didn't even bother himself to show up. I feel the head of each union look after themselves before the people they supposedly represent which is probably why they don't like Starter since it seems he's trying to distant from them

We've already been over the reasons for people needing to use foodbanks elsewhere in this thread but you can find the answers on Google if you don't want to scroll up. But remember, you have to read the whole article, not just the headline. You will also find that there are many aristocrats who do a lot of charitable work and do work for people in poverty.
Imho Scargill was one of the cnuts, using the miners for his own ego. My step Dad was off work for months and months.
