The play-offs increase interest towards the end of the season. About half the teams reckon they could get in 4-6...them's the rules. Everyone knows them at the start of the season. If you want promotion, all you have to do is win games.

This debate is done every year, but West Ham were promoted in 2005 having finished 6th in the Championship, so it's swings and roundabouts really.

Teams deserve promotion...not sure what number of supporters has to do with it. Wouldn't mind Brum or Blackpool.

I can see the merits of both sides of this argument. Obviously the team in 3rd would feel aggrieved if they don't get promoted and a team below them does, but it does increase the competitiveness of the league and gives more teams a chance.

Would it not be proper for the premier league team who finish 4th from bottom to have to play in the play offs
