The problem is human error. increasing the number of humans on the pitch only adds to the chances of error.

When you see the two or three quick interchanges and a goal comes from it (For your team) the adrenalin rush is what keeps us coming back for more. An amazing game like this should be cherished and changes to it need to be very carefully thought through before any action is taken.
You can't remove humans from the decision making process, though.
You can add more or give them technological advantages, but it'll still be a human making the decisions, ultimately.
