Sitting relaxing after a few beers and reading on here and elsewhere. I wonder what 2025 will bring.

2024 had the constant worry of keeping a business that employs 28 people in work, the stress of running a business knowing I couldn't take time off, then in late May a heart attack that thankfully resulted in a stent and nothing more serious.

Will 2025 be any better? Work wise I doubt the stress will be less, I've had 2 opportunities presented to me that would reduce my stress levels, but doesn't include those that went above and beyond last year and they deserve better than to be left in the lurch.

Health wise I hope so, the tablets I'm in for the rest of my life, make a huge difference and if I can crack the stopping smoking then I should be OK. Stopping smoking is my biggest weakness l, nothing I have tried has cracked it and the harder I try the harder it gets.

As I have done before, I will apologise for being a bit of a dick at times on here, emotion gets the better of me and at 49 years old I doubt that will change.

Your all a great bunch of lads and lasses, here's to a fantastic 2025 and let's make the most of the highs and not be to hard on the lows.

Here's a story that won't help you with smoking but I'll share it anyway as you never know. My Dad had it down to 11 rollies for years but didn't want to stop. Then on a whim over a period of 11 days he went, 11, 10, 9, etc and smoked his last cigarette on day 11. That was about 40 years ago. There. The perfect New Years resolution story!! - - - Good luck and all the best for the new year!

Happy New Year folks. Travelling back tomorrow from Finners and hoping to get home in time for the second half of the match.
Weather looks ****e, just hope it’s calmed down by the time we fly back and we’re going in ahead at half time… and full time, of course.

No first footing round here. But never mind, we all mark the passing of time in our own way. Personally 2024 has been absolute rollercoaster. Ups and downs and few stomach churning events.

2025 is one I look forward too. Determined to live a better life. Determined to love my family more. Determined this bloody wonderful team of ours will keep doing us proud and will achieve more than we think possible.

Mrs in bed, sitting doing a John Lennon jigsaw, bottle of Pilsner 0.0 (which is very nice tbf), and got Godfather 2 on in the background. Nowt like living the high life eh.

Few goals for 2025....
Looking forward to welcoming my first Grandchild into the world in May.
Lose a kidney,
and finish this bloody jigsaw.

I always used to say to my lad when he was growing up, “if you say you can or say you can’t, you’re right”. Bottom line is if you really want to stop you will. My mum is in her eighties and smoked all her adult life. She’s been saying for years that she’s going to give up. She won’t because she doesn’t want to. Her dad who also smoked ended up with emphysema and couldn’t walk from one end of his very small living room to the other without having to stop, gasping for breath. She knows the associated health risks but is happy to take them.
Just remember, you’re from Sunderland and as such that makes you and every other male from there a god amongst men. Use your god like powers and pack in today.
