Today would have been my sons 21st.

First glass raised before he goes out with my uncles to Hylton Road and meets my grandad in the buffs club later.

The hardest bit of it all was telling my dad and seeing that little bit of light fade from his eyes.

21 years on and I still remember being I room 7, the panic in the midwifes face when she couldn't get a heart beat, the consultant trying so hard to be professional while she was so upset. The phone call to my dad, the phone call to my friends.

I held my son for 10 minutes when he was born, we have photos in his safc baby grow, but I'd give anything to see him now

We're in the same boat mate but I still can't talk about it 40 years later.

Fortunately I've just had a lovely photo of my latest Grandson to help things along

 

I'm going to do as I always do and get very drunk, my boy is going to look down an take the piss out of his old man like he always does.

I have learnt to keep a lid on it when at work, but sitting here tonight and it's hit me like a train.

 

Hes a smasher mate, give him an extra big hug tomorrow

 

I cant even begin to imagine the pain of losing a child, let alone a baby.
