    Not really, would appear that it meant nothing in the end. Sunderland won the battle that day but Newcastle won the war

    Funny this.

    When we win 5-1, Sunderland fans dismiss it because they finished above us in the table.

    But when they win 9-1 (about one hundred years ago <doh>) it's suddenly irrelevant that we not only finished above them, but also won the league?

    Too many <doh>'s to put here in case the forums servers explode. Let me know when your shovels break from the amount of hole digging you've done and I'll go buy you guys some new ones.

    So for any team that are/go on to be champions, it is a regular occurance that they are turned over 9-1 at home?

    Congrats on your 3rd league title. No one is denying that you deserved this, but you seem to be that this result is of any significance (made all the more significant by the two clubs involved).

    Maybe its just putting forward an argument in the same vein and context as the original taunts. If that made any sense.

    Both parties are just as bad for 'hole digging' so stop making it to be otherwise.
