Do/did you play sports at any kind of organised level? Like, at least 1 training and 1 match a week? Unless your injured after a match, it shouldn't take a week to fully recover before your next match, no matter what level.

These are professional athletes man, fair enough the work they go through on a match day is enourmous but they train for this their entire competitive lives. Danny Guthrie wasn't coming off any long term injuries when he stepped in for us if im not mistaken, you can't say we've "thrown him in at the deep end", he will have been physically prepared.

Injuries happen to players, we have to accept it. You can't blame anyone for Guthrie's.

For your average player, of course they train to play and come into the side and have a certain amount of fitness. But Guthrie, HBA and Gosling have had either a long term injury or a series of injuries. You have to take that into account:

With players like this you need to bleed them into the team in cameos as much as possible to get them the minutes they need without over working them.

Guthrie hardly features for us; then is expected to start and step up straight away. Unfortunately he has broken down.
HBA was out for a long time. He should have had more cameos this season. He has literally been crying out to play. He still isn't fit in December. Not good.
Gosling has hardly had a sniff in the first team this season. Why, seeing as Tiote has been out for ages, I just dont understand. Now if he starts v Norwich, we are in danger of over working him and he will 'do a Guthrie'.

Its a fine balance that a Premier League manager should be able to do and handle. I'm a nobody who played football for years, who is on a forum, who likes a game of Football Manager, but yet I seem to have acquired this knowledge.

Its just a small criticism of Pardew this season. His subs never seem to stop baffling me at times.

I agree in that his substitutions aren't what i'd do at times but look at what you've just written.

How are you so sure that you are correct? Yet a team of coaching professionals are getting it wrong?

I wont go through your points but I'l just say in my opinion if players are physically fit enough to play 90 mins through preperation in training, your unlucky if they get injured. Playing match's gets your brain ticking and match sharpness, does little to build fitness.

Agreed.

I'll get slated for this but hey ho

Simpson--Perch----Kadar--Raylor

Obertan----------HBA---------Jonas

Unless Colo is fit replace Kadar with him

Maybe its a high level of self belief? Could be because I reckon most professional coaches would agree that you treat injury prone players/players coming off a long serious injury different to your basic fit professional player.

Most people would agree with pretty common sensed opinion, no?

Of course, but I'm almost certain Guthrie wasn't coming off a long term injury.

However Ben Arfa has come off a long term injury but you aren't happy with the way he's been handeled. Are you saying he should have had more cameos before his starts? If so we haven't been in a position much this season to have the luxury of using substitions forr anything but tactically.

Raylor--------Simpson-----Perch------Jonas--

Obertan------Gosling-------Cabaye----Lovenkrands

----------------------Ben Arfa---------------

----------------------Ba------------------------

Would not surprise me in the slightest if this is how we lined up, we all know Pardew loves Lovenkrands and as for Santon, dunno why but he doesn't seem to know the kids best position yet

I would cry if this was defence and Loven.

Abied/ Vuckic for Guthrie, I would like.

For what it's worth...

Krul
Simmo Perch Kadar* Santon
Ober Gosling** Cabaye Jonas
Ben Arfa
Ba

*Colo if he's fit
**Or Abeid

If that's not working, bring on Best and/or Shola for Ba/Ben Arfa

I'm assuming Raylor will start though...

Do you know how we could avoid injuries altogether? Just don't play ****ing anyone.

This for me, Colo and Tiote coming in if fit.

Everyone else has had a go, so here's my lineup:

GK: Krul
RB: Simpson
LB: Raylor
CB: Perch
CB: Kadar
RM: Obertan
LM: Jonas
CM: Cabaye
CM: Gosling
ST: Shola
ST: Ba

Not much we can do about defence, would like Santon in their but he's most likely going to be a sub. Think Pardew will keep him at LB as Jonas is back to help out and they team up well on that side. If Jonas was still banned I think Santon would definitely come in due to how **** Raylor was v Chelsea (in no small part down to Lovenkrands appalling defensive display).

If we were playing a better side I wouldn't want Obertan on RM. He can have more impact against 'lesser' sides though so I say keep him in.

In CM Gosling better work his ****ing nuts off or we are in the ****. Start him, if he doesn't pull his weight then bring Abeid on.

Upfront I want Shola. He deserves it after his second half v Chelsea and we need strong players as this is going to be all hands to the pump. Benny doesn't do all hands to the pump, and barring a few flashes, has been largely underwhelming. Have him on the bench and bring on for the last half hour possibly if Shola gets tired, or bring Best on.

You sir, are talking what's known in the business as 'a load of bollocks'.

Incidentally here's my team:

Krul
Simpson Perch Kadar Santon
Obertan Cabaye Gosling Jonas
Shola Ba
