I seriously do not know what planet you are from. Take a minute to look at the table of scorers in the Championship - it might - just might - tell you something. Two towering headers yesterday and did you notice - wasn,t another player at the end of the crosses to make them count except Guly
Some people keep picking on Guly, whereas others players are teflon. Note that in the Guardian match report, they referred to Lallana as ubiquitous..failed to impress in many positions.
I said that about Lallana he's going through a dry patch. Also said while Guly is class at home 8 in 12 his away form is bad 1 goal in 11 for people that like their stats. Can we just accept that both sets of people are correct, Guly is both Class and Poor as he is jekyll and hyde. We just have to accept what he is.
And btw evoulution of saints I have read your pm and I most certainly do not want to find out what chloroform smells like.
i think you will find i have had a go at a lot of players. (mainly davis, lallana, lambert, to mention a few.) i don't think i am picking solely on him it was just that people have given him all praise for 2 goals when they where pretty much the only thing he does in a game. Scoring a goal does not mean a good performance. for example http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/103930-lallana-et-al
Yes, everyone is entitled to an opinion on a forum, but to consistently ignore the positives of this superb first half of the season and focus on nitpicking the faults of some players is bound to make you appear as a bit of a spoilt fan to others. What would happen if we lost 2 or 3 games in a row, would you be calling for Adkin's head? Most posters on here can see the improvements and achievements that the club have made in the past 2 years and quite rightly cannot understand why anyone can feel as negatively as you do about the club. These are the good times, just enjoy them while you can, god knows we have had enough bad times in the last 10 years.
It is not often that I am lost for words but your shear stupidity has taken my breath away. You know naff all about football so do us all a favour and crawl back under your stone.
I'd bet money that Adkins uses the stats (whichever is the current version of prozone etc) and I bet Guly's stats actually show more passes completed and more yards run / coverage of the field than many of theothers. Now pass completion is one of those old stats that doesn't really mean much (sideways passes etc) but the current way of 'value added passes' namely ones that lead to attacks or chances or goals then Guly will be way up the list. As for the constant 'Guly being inconsistent' Lallana nearly always puts a shift in. Is often the man who makes the most 'value added contribution to the game' however he has had a run of 5 or 6 games where he is looking brilliant yet being ineffective. Against Pompey was the prime example where he was trying to take on everybody, trying all sorts of tricks yet only made 1 clear cut chance. the other times he lost the ball when tried to take on the 'umpteenth' man or did what Arsenal do (and to some extent Barca) where they have to make the most beautiful goal rather than take the simple pass when around the box. Not many people calling for Adam's head even though over the past 5 or 6 games he has been much worse than Guly!!! For me. Both should be in the side, both should start whenever fit (no room at the moment for rotation) and both are worthy of their place. Because if they are not on the pitch then that single moment that one scores or creates a vital goal will not be there.
First post in ages but it's got to be done! I wasn't sure about guly, his work ethic etc. but one thing I will say about him, after watching him closely. He does work hard, he does a lot of running. I'm not taking the piss, but when you actually watch him, he has all the skill and everything, but he often closes people down. Cannot understand why people do not like him, do you always need a scapegoat?
Guly along with Fonte is in the Championship team of the week. Can we please put this to bed now and agree that those who know what they are talking about agree that Guly is a great asset to the team and those that don't know what they are talking about can continue in their state of blissfully stupifying ignorance.
i am amazed at the critics and guly doubters. yes he made a mistake that led to a goal, also the previous week lambert made a mistake which led to blackpool hitting the post, and lambert also missed a glorious chance to put us 2 up and towards an almost certain 3 points. End of the day, Guly usually scores and works hard for the team. I think the doubters out there probably havent played a standard higher than park football to not be able to appreciate what he brings to the team. I just look at the saints players reaction when he scored, they all love him, and the biggest thing, Guly has earned that respect through his hard work and endeavour. Think the players know a little better than the doubters within our ranks!!
