Nobody is debating whether it was given as a knockdown. It wasn't but a lot of people thought it should have been.

Boxing officials are routinely and consistently wrong, either by mistake or because of some $ flying into their pockets, and many are hounded in the press for it or suspended.

Have you not checked his record? As that suggests otherwise.

Total fights 28
Wins 26
Wins by KO 20
Losses 2

Hi defeat v Saunders was more to do with inactivity in the first half of the fight. Not 'schooled' as you put it. As the fight was decided by split decision.
t was a very dodgy split decision BJS won by a much wider score in mine and many others opinion.
And I think it’s you who needs to check his record. He’s scored 1 legitimate KO. The other 19 all coming by way of TKO. I’m not arguing that the fights shouldn’t have been stopped. I’m arguing that he doesn’t posses punch power like you said he did. He smothers his opponents with flurries and when they don’t hit back the ref steps in. That’s fair enough, he doesn’t knock people down for ten though. Well he’s done it once.

It's a poor example and I apologise in advance for using this but Nick Blackwell will probably disagree with you with regards to his punch power.

Anyway, he didn't take a standing count v Groves. Which in my opinion was correct and was also deemed correct by the referee, who was in and amongst both fighters for the full 36 minutes. He may not have had the ring craft - but other than the cut eye, at no point did he look troubled by Groves.

BJS won by a much wider margin in your mind? But not the 3 professional judges that did the scorecards, which is what matters.

I do agree but perhaps it isn’t that he isn’t a boxer but, instead, that he isn’t as good a boxer as he and his father think he is.

MoH

I think it's obvious that he didn't have an amateur career and thought fitness and volume punching was enough. It's enough against scrubs and hasbeens but he'll always be found out by technically proficient boxers.

But only on the score cards. no questions about his chin.

If I punched Blackwell as many times as Jnr did I would cause some permanent damage. Dunno if you’re deliberately avoiding my point or we’re just misunderstanding each other. I’m saying he doesn’t have the one punch power to knock most boxers out for the count. His power is questionable in that sense. I hate to use the term because only boxing snobs use it but to be honest only a casual boxing fan would think that Eubank has power. I watch boxing twice a week most weeks and I’ve watched a good few of his fights. It’s all opinion obviously but I would like to think I know what I’m talking about

I watch a lot of boxing too. I also used to spar with a decent amateur boxer. Just so you know. :emoticon-0148-yes:
