FIFA rules prevent red and yellow kits being used in the same game, it breaches their 'clashing' rules (I think it's something to do with not being able to tell the difference on a black and white TV).

Do red and white checks clash with blue and white stripes under FIFA rules?

Yet in 1970 they were happy with England playing Brazil in white and yellow respectively...

I'm with Castro, I think the main reason for it is financial and sponsorship based.

If current FIFA rules prevent a red kit and yellow kit being worn in the same game, then that's quite obviously the reason they weren't worn (however daft it seems).

I have a feeling Croatia changing from their unique red and white checked shirt for a game against a team in blue and white stripes was more to do with marketing and their shirt suppliers than FIFA.

Finding it hard to root for this current Brazil team, real men like Socrates and Zico are probably dismayed by the likes of Neymar and Jesus going down every time a gust of wind blows. Feel sorry for the Costa Ricans. Not surprised Neymar pulled his biggest bit of cheating just after I posted on here about it. If the ref had booked him he might have got a red card too afterwards. The Costa Ricans cheating too of course but maybe the Brazilians a bit more annoying
