Reports in the Chronicale say his long term knee problems are back and he could out for at least 9 months.

Might explain why he has been so awful ?
    Clutching at straws probably.

Looks like we are stuck with him. just another costly handicap to any planned reorganisation of our woeful strikeforce.

He looked a bit better pre season or at least fitter , even interested, I think we were knowingly sold a crock.

I know LJ says he might only need 3 weeks rest but it could require surgery after that rest which may mean 9 months.

I'd have preferred him to be available, as we don't have many options, but we have to face facts.

I'm hoping this announcement is a prelude to,

"We'd like to wish Will all the best in the future but feel paying his contract up is the best way forward for all concerned."

May be worth exploring the possibility of paying up his contract to free up space in squad numbers and salary cap monies . May seem like kicking someone when they are down but needs must , he has proved to be a major disappointment since he came I think most people would agree . May be like Watmore and thrive on a change of environment , the needs of the club are paramount and we need firepower now .

I would prefer to give Mitch Curry a run out or anybody else available. He has had too many chances imo.

Great minds think alike whilst fools seldom differ , we must have been thinking and typing at the same time - spooky !

Me too, Mitch has lightning pace and is a goalscorer, the game yesterday showed that a midfield of Power Leadbitter and Scowen is not the way forward and playing behind Wyke its a recipe for disaster. We need better, and the problem needs addressing quickly, I would like to see at least Mitch and Neil included in the next game, with a view to using them along with Diamond, O/9, Hume, Sanderson, Embleton, Gooch, and Younger in the months ahead. Its either this or back to the checkbook, which I do fear greatly given our record, its no exaggeration to say that pound for pound we have imported the worst strike force in this division, and probably in the history of football. <laugh>

I agree will all of that.

I also believe we need to show the young lads that there's a possibility of involvement even if it's a place on the bench.

If we're winning 4-0, as we were at Lincoln, bring a teenager on and just tell him to go nuts and play his best game.

It will help stop them looking at other offers as much as anything.

if he is looking at 9 months out then i think it would be a good call to get him in and terminate his contract...as one season contracts are normal in the lower leagues it gives us another contract we can have on the wage bill...besides the fact that we really need someone who can score goals i guess an injured non goal scoring striker will not really be missed.

I was really hoping he'd been left out because some mug wanted to take him off our hands.
Looks like he's gonna cost the club more money to get him back to his disinterested, sitter missing 'best' :emoticon-0121-angry

No chance he would come back.

more likely to get a gig at a prem club than here.

good luck to him I say.

this 100% , the guy is making a mockery of the club, Benji would have done much better had he been given the number of starts he has had, and could have possibly been our no one as Josh Maja became in the same time frame.

His contract is up in June 2022, which just shows how bad his signing was, but I would still settle his contract and get rid.
