This government must carry out an INQUEST into the Grenfell tragedy, not a public inquiry

Theresa May's decision to carry out a public inquiry into the Grenfell tragedy ensures that the government has control over any uncomfortable revelations about the negligence and poor planning of the Grenfell estate by the Tory-run Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea.

By choosing a PUBLIC INQUIRY the government protects itself as well as those who should be held accountable. It also blocks any possibility of an INQUEST from taking place: the necessary process that would unearth the true causes of the fire for the public interest.

Prevent the government from whitewashing the truth and from keeping the UK's planning and regulation laws in the dark ages any longer. Stand with the residents of Grenfell as well as the residents of the UK's 4,000 other tower blocks and make sure this does not happen again.

Can I just say, I think Theresa May has acted appallingly to this. She should have met the victims straight away. You'll get criticism but you take it - you're bloody Prime Minister. It's a disgrace.

But I'll sign your petition Beefy, no problem.

In contrast to Sadiq Khan, who was heckled by frustrated residents but still spoke calmly.

Exactly - you just take the criticism, these people are emotional and have lost friends, relatives and others. She should have been the first one there.

It just gives a signal that they are a left behind community, and forgotten about.

Pretty sure I signed this petition on one of my PCs this morning [not from Beefy's link] and it has just allowed me to sign on another of my computers. So, anyone out there with multiple devices, you might just as well sign on those too. It might add to the numbers.

St Theresa drops the ball again. Petition signed. Well done, Beefy and thanks for alerting us

I don't think she even had hold of this ball. Totally wrong decision with what she did. It appeared to be a calculated, planned, thought out decision. It should have been a decision from the heart, like Corbyn and Khan.

Signed.
Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully it'll get an inquest and those at fault will be punished accordingly.
