If the defence has no confidence that the keeper can clear a bouncing ball he is not allowed to pick up when under no immediate pressure, that is a bit of an issue.
Spot on!.I/we can accept defeat, afterall I am a lifer Rs fan, but what we object too is clutching defeat from the jaws of victory repeatedly
Sorry oddball, you have this wrong...I/we can accept defeat, afterall I am a lifer Rs fan, but what we object too is clutching defeat from the jaws of victory repeatedly.
This is a forum for comment, we know Green will be gone at the end of this year (he is too big an earner, and to old to renew the contract off...he is treading water.
We know we need a new player in this position...some off think selling McCarthy was wrong....I saw him play 3 times, and was seriously unimpressed, but I suspect given a run in a stable team that is not shipping goals, he would have solidified......And that is what we must pray for with Smithes.
This is crunch time....we need a stable defense in front of a young keeper.
On wednesday, we need a good solid defence...with Angella and Ned really protecting Smithes....and see if he can grow into a player that can replace Green
So heap the blame on the one player that has won us plenty of points in the past … Nope
I also don't agree at all with this great idea of getting a settled defence. I have just watched the full 90 and Green could of charged at the ball and smashed it but even then if anyone looks at the video chances are the forward would of charged it down but the ball was not hit cleanly but Nedum and was clearly spinning and bobbling… you can even hear it on the video
I would put the ball out for a throw if i was Nedum. There was no danger across the pitch
It was a mistake by Nedum first IMO not to deal with it correctly and then deliver a slow daisy spinning pass … I call that bad luck
Beth this is not crunch time Angella has not completed a game for us yet. No way can anyone expect a partnership to build in less than 6 matches IMO
Green has to be supported and I hope you all come on here when he directly gets us points this season
Confidence is key in this division IMO and it can't come until we get these new players bedded in

Great post! Spot on.![]()
I suppose you particulary agree with TGWTDT suggestion "I also don't agree at all with this great idea of getting a settled defence."
(I wonder why managers haven't thought of that idea as their new stargery....)
The whole point I was making is that Green has no confidence on the floor...he never has....and the whole point is that we need to get new players bedded in...how can we if we do not play them...or as TGWTDT so correctly says "No way can anyone expect a partnership to build in less than 6 matches IMO"
Aqua your "Great post spot on"....is refering to a disjointed and ill thought out post...please think for youself, and not jump on any old band wagon
Blimey, sorry miss. I'll keep opinions to myself in future.![]()
Nope Aqua wrong again......In fact I was asking for your opinions ......and not simply a ""Great post spot on" without actually thinking what TGWTDT had actually said.
That is the whole point of this silly forum we call home
So you agree with his idea that
"I also don't agree at all with this great idea of getting a settled defence."
or his idea that to the contary
"No way can anyone expect a partnership to build in less than 6 matches IMO"
But
"Green has to be supported and I hope you all come on here when he directly gets us points this season" (ps I will if it happens)
BUT
"Confidence is key in this division IMO and it can't come until we get these new players bedded in"
What I am objecting to is your comment "great post" for a completely "non-logical" and dysfunctional post.
And no I am not a school teacher...something much much worse...a scientist!
You are right there mare. 1 bad mistake from the GK cost us the game. But most, or all the rest, made equally bad mistakes that mostly don't hurt so bad and get let go, mainly. All part and parcel of being a GK.Time and time again I come on here fighting Green's corner because every time we lose he gets the blame. I can't remember all the saves he made last season to keep us in games, the criticism he gets on this forum is disproportionate. There were plenty of players last season that put in worse performances than he did, but blame good ol' Rob the QPR fall guy.
Yes he cocked up big time on Saturday and he has held his hands up, but again as I've said before if you mess up as a goalkeeper there's no one behind you to help you out. Smithies may well be our future, but give Green a break, all our problems are not all his fault!
So heap the blame on the one player that has won us plenty of points in the past … Nope

For someone who constantly reminds us all about how much he knows about football, that is complete rubbish.
Green had plenty of time to control the ball and clear it.
His inability to control the ball gave the forward time to get up to him.
