If the defence has no confidence that the keeper can clear a bouncing ball he is not allowed to pick up when under no immediate pressure, that is a bit of an issue.

I simply cannot believe that Ned is being criticised for the back pass.
Green had plenty of time to control the ball with his instep and volley it away. The simply truth is he is an old fashioned shot stopper who has zero skills with his feet. This is simply unacceptable in the game these days.
Tramore..................De Gea is normally one of the best with his feet, as are most of the keepers these days.

Although I cannot fully discuss with you the rigours of playing football at any level. I can carry my own in a discussion of being a goalie in a fast moving team game (hockey) and at a pretty decent level too.
Green has always been blighted by his internal knowledge of his shortcomings...and he is now too old to change. It was highlighted by his desire to go to Spam and get out of the firing line. It is all getting too much for him. This will not help. He is shot in the head. We need (have needed for 18 months) a new goalie.
So two other points....as Col said....there was no problem with Neds backpass. It was a decent enough, solid pass. And you can see that playing along the backline looking for an opening is part of CR style, so it was not unexpected. Green should have controlled it much better (he had a similar scare in the first half ffs too) or hoofed it into the stands. Following the error he should never taken the player down, looking at the replay, O Grady had toe poked it passed Green across the goal, he may not have caught it in time to make the goal....and also 11 vs11 and we may have een scored again, regardless of Forest equalising, and probab;ly would not have lost..Those two major mistakes cost us the match.
Smithes had a very difficult start...on his debut his first action was to pick the ball out of the net...he then plays behind a team that fell apart in front of him. He made a save ( a punch) from a good shoot later on ( one which I was surprised he didn't catch...but I do not know if this is his style.

Yep totally agree, you can sense the trepidation with every ball played back to him and how he deals with it. Contrast that to how he warms up. Anybody watching the warm up will see him knocking the ball about at will with great accuracy. The pressure and match situation destroys that. Look at the first half one where he also controlled with his shin, terrifying as a fan.

I am certain that plenty more keepers will do what Green did Saturday this Saturday
Credit to the player for closing him down
All the anger this weekend is by people who cannot accept defeat
The same fans who have to have an escape player to blame ... Traore and Hoilett currently and of course our manager who IMO is working hard at his job to build a new QPR
Some people simply don't know how infected they are
Next time Green pulls off a great save you can all start by praising him
As for goalies who are good with their feet there aren't many IMO
We are very lucky to have green IMO
The infection currently is to look at a keeper that has had a good game and then somehow deduce we need that player ... This applys to any player that is picked on on this forum
Learn to lose IMO

On the pitch we now have a new keeper for three games is it? He may well play great and keep Green out or he could be shocking
It shouldn't matter when a club is building a new team IMO
You all knew what this league is and only in the final few games will true champions become apparent

Sorry oddball, you have this wrong...I/we can accept defeat, afterall I am a lifer Rs fan, but what we object too is clutching defeat from the jaws of victory repeatedly.

We know we need a new player in this position...some off think selling McCarthy was wrong....I saw him play 3 times, and was seriously unimpressed, but I suspect given a run in a stable team that is not shipping goals, he would have solidified......And that is what we must pray for with Smithes.

I also don't agree at all with this great idea of getting a settled defence. I have just watched the full 90 and Green could of charged at the ball and smashed it but even then if anyone looks at the video chances are the forward would of charged it down but the ball was not hit cleanly but Nedum and was clearly spinning and bobbling… you can even hear it on the video
I would put the ball out for a throw if i was Nedum. There was no danger across the pitch
It was a mistake by Nedum first IMO not to deal with it correctly and then deliver a slow daisy spinning pass … I call that bad luck

Time and time again I come on here fighting Green's corner because every time we lose he gets the blame. I can't remember all the saves he made last season to keep us in games, the criticism he gets on this forum is disproportionate. There were plenty of players last season that put in worse performances than he did, but blame good ol' Rob the QPR fall guy.
Yes he cocked up big time on Saturday and he has held his hands up, but again as I've said before if you mess up as a goalkeeper there's no one behind you to help you out. Smithies may well be our future, but give Green a break, all our problems are not all his fault!

You are right there mare. 1 bad mistake from the GK cost us the game. But most, or all the rest, made equally bad mistakes that mostly don't hurt so bad and get let go, mainly. All part and parcel of being a GK.
I forgive him his cockup Saturday, sheet happens, especially when his mates keep giving him the back pakkages for a major diarreah. But Green has been sick in his belly for way too long now. Hope Smithy or Lumley get a proper chance, and if they are not there we need a new GK.
For someone who constantly reminds us all about how much he knows about football, that is complete rubbish.

I don't know a lot about modern football but I know to play it. It looks simple on the video if Green stepped into the ball but he waited and it was clear to see that the flight of the ball was slow and confusing as Nedum mis hit it a bit. Those to me look like facts here:
The speed of the back pass and the fact that green didn't come to meet the ball. I think there were number of errors here including the speed of the attacker
Misjudgement at best

I am certain that Green was caught out with the flight of the slow ball. I played at a good level and that ball should of gone into touch, it didn't and Green should of stepped into the ball. On a second look i can see where you think he had time but the ball was slowing down all the time.
To then open the whole thing up as he is useless is complete rubbish and I hope you will head the list to praise Green when he next gets us points with his main job of keeping the ball out of our goal.
I am certain that back passes will be the topic of some serious thought at the club.
Never ever ever put your own keeper under pressure … its a golden rule of defensive football and you should know that
Beth's contribution sums up the Green dilemma for me. He has always had a poor kicking game but that is now multiplied by a lack of confidence which is not going to improve as he winds down his career. However, I think DT is also right that Onohua could have done things differently given that he must be all too well aware of Green's shortcomings in that area. Strangely enough he is usually ultra conservative with those situations and does indeed hoof it into touch more often that not. To change tack a bit I have to say that I'm worried by Onohua's appointment as captain. I have seen him do nothing to motivate other players generally but really should have been putting himself around after the goal and sending off.
