Snodgrass link http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic..._is_still_rising_for_leeds_snodgrass_1_927154 The Bates I know, would've taken 4million or less in a heartbeat, so that's why I'm not 100% sure.... yet, that he's going to asset-strip our squad.
Relax everyone, lets judge Simon on the team come 6th Aug.Things are much worse at other clubs, look at millwall 2 top players gone and no player with any class will lower himself enough to go there.Millwall will only have league 2 mugs to replace there stars.yeovil and Lincoln will be very worried knowing millwalls looking for players.
I'm 100% sure that he won't. He makes stupid, selfish decisions but he really isn't laundering millions out of the club from player transfers.
How do you know he's going to be on the bench at sunderland, gordan is injured alot. Also how I ironic when given been on the bench all season Bargain In that article it says Norwich didnt bid half of £8m So not sure where £5m come from. Or am i reading it all wrong
Norwich offered 3.5m initially, but Bates probably intimated that he wanted 5m at least, before taking the mickey out of them again by upping the price to 8m. Guessing that's what happened.
we haven't sold, though. We have accepted a deal, we can still back out at any point as far as I'm aware. No contracts have been signed yet, and apparently we have a replacement ready subject to a medical. If it's Jason Brown I'm going to facepalm.
I don't think it was the replacement we have ready to sign, it's the replacement's understudy. That's what the Twitterers are saying anyway who've listened to the Yorkshire Radio interview with Grayson. Agreed though I wouldn't want it to be Brown.
If Westwood gets offered a deal at Sunderland, then he'll obviously take it, you're deluding yourselves if you think otherwise.
With that said though, Brown was actually really good in the match against Coventry. I wouldn't want him to be first choice but I guess he could be a decent enough backup. He's better than Higgs was at least.
They have Craig Gordon and Simon Mignolet. Whenever Gordon's been injured, he's played and put in some very good performances. You said that they'd want Westwood to challenge Gordon, but Mignolet's been doing that anyway. He finished with 10 clean sheets last season in 23 appearances, and got man of the match a couple of times. There's no need for them to sign Westwood, as he's not better than what they've got, he's at best equal to their back up keeper. I'm saying that we can offer him first team football, which he wouldn't be guaranteed at Sunderland.
Gordon is out until at least the end of October and Sunderland aren't offering him a new deal until they've seen if he's completely over his injury. Mignolet is a good keeper, but he's the only one they've got, they'll definitely bring in another keeper and if Westwood is offered it, he's not going to turn it down.
Also, Westwood has spent most of his career at Carlisle and Coventry, so I'm sure he'd be happy to move to a decent city like Leeds instead of Sunderland... no disrespect. If Grayson's statement on the club website is to believed, this deal could geniunely be happening. The new keeper will be an "improvement" apparently, which means it can't possibly be Brown, surely?
I think there's a chance he'll turn it down if we offer him better wages, first team football and make a good impression. A huge ask, I know.
Sunderland is a sanctuary for prem players whose career has hit a brickwall, not up and coming talents... I honestly can't think of a more depressing place than Wearside & I'm sure Westwood will choose any other option on the table, than being a back-up keeper at Sunderland.
Well people are acting like he's already signed for Sunderland. They've already got two good keepers, and the pull of first team football could bring him to Leeds. There are other clubs interested in him as well, and I don't think it's a definite that he's off to Sunderland.
Has it occured to anyone that this accepted offer is a win/win situation for us? Kasper may be the sort of person who now refuses a contract with Leicester City because he wants to stay and has a point to prove, and will only leave if he's properly forced out the door. If this happens we could see a galvanised Schmeichel who performs better as a result. The other (more likely) outcome is he does leave, and we get rid of a somewhat average keeper.
