Cant belueve no1 has pointed out Shakalaka- he was set out of for this race from the beginning, he has experience over the fences, jumped and looked really well lto. What could you not like about it! He is my #1 along with your 3 aswell zen!
 
I have laid West End Rocker at 14.0 on Betfair with the intention of backing him when his price drifts. I think him shortening up so dramatically is a big market overreaction. The ground is soft, good to soft in places, and the forecast looks predominantly dry with the odd shower from tomorrow morning onwards. I'd expect the course to tend towards good to soft, maybe soft in places, by the end of the week leading to the mudlarks drifting again.
 
He cant have the ground any quicker than that, saying that last year he was going well till being brought down and if i remember right the ground was on the quick side. But i wont be backinhg unless there is some cut in the ground,

and Synchronised..... although I should point out I bet on him at 20/1 before the Gold Cup!

Can I ask, how often does top weight go off favourite?
 
No. I've laid WER at 14.0 in the expectation that he'll drift when people realise that it isn't going to be as soft as everyone thinks. He'll then revert to his true price so I can back him for a 'green book'. That's the idea anyway! <laugh>

I couldn't have Le Beau Bai. He needs a bog and it isn't going to be that. Giles Cross is a back to lay (if he drifts a bit first) because I don't think he'll stay (I might be the only one though). I can see him jumping away well in front but falling in a hole after the last (roughly). He was outstayed in both Welsh Nationals and didn't find much at Haydock last time. West End Rocker is solid enough but I don't think he's handicapped to win it.

He does have a lot going for him. The Topham came at the end of a hard season, and he still performed okay. This season he's been laid out for the GN, as you say, and 20s looks generous. I'm on, along with West End Rocker, and Ballabriggs who probs can't win with all the weight but imo will be placed.
 
I agree Archers with you on your picks! Im still deciding on Ballabriggs, as you say he wont win but looks nailed on for a place (e.g. dont push it last year) but im still deciding if its worth it. lol <laugh>
