Has he or have the club treated him badly? Like I said before, it's clear that Arsenal have tried every possible way to make life so uncomfortable for him to the point where he demands to leave. It hasn't worked. He then starts consecutive games under Arteta, doesn't take a paycut and then isn't selected anymore.

I'd obviously prefer it if he's off the books because it's costing us more than he's worth and the entire saga has been dull. But if it's clear he's not going anywhere, and wants to see out his final year, we may as well try to make use of him. He's said several times he wants to play and is available to play. If that is the case, it's not clear if he has given up.

But surely, you can see that any current player or ex-player poking fun at their rivals will be lauded on social media. I'm fairly sure Kane's had a view digs at us via Piers Morgan. Even your manager's fired plenty of shots at us, and it garnered loads of attention. It happens.
