If Fonte wants to go then why is he still captain? Surely he has to be stripped of the captaincy if he wants to leave.
Making him captain would be more realistic.
Would be really pleased with VVD as captain
Because we want to keep him if possible.
Not a certainty but it would increase the chances of him staying longer.
Until a big club came in for him. Same as Jose if he moves. Very easy to stay when the suitors are Sunderland, Villa, Hull or Cardiff.
Did he? or did the club because the offer was a small amount. Also remember Cortese was in charge back then and no-one was offering OXO money for Lallana down there.
I seem to remember it was £3m. That was nothing to us even down there. Big difference and he wasn't captain back then either.
When a PL club offers a substantial amount like £25m it is much harder for the club to say to the player the offer is derisory as they could quite easily say to Schneiderlin's £10m offer. Even these players are not stupid enough to think we have to let them go when the offer is so "under value."
