Guys, think how much money we can make if we sell every player! Forget the football bit, think of the bank balance!

Yeah all that money in the bank plus a season of PL revenue.....we get relegated....she sells and easily recoups the £15M her old man paid for us...Great business...Happy days for her as she swans down the Bahamas on her new Sunseeker.

This one upsets me more than any of the others. You make a commodity out of the academy, and you rip the soul out of the club.

Yes, we can manage without him and it's a fanatastic price (although Bales' price was good too and look what he got sold for!). But that isn't the point here.

Are we developing players to play for us and be the backbone of the team or are we simply doing so to make a quick buck?

Either would be OK but we were promised it was the former and we all got over-exited by the prospect. Now we have become like every other team. Foget our 'model', good coaching etc, it's now about who spends the most. Last season everyone was praising the way we do things and how every club should be trying to emulate us. Now, the 'Saints' way seems to have gone and we are doing it the Premier League way.

I can't believe Chambers would have 'forced' a move, like Lovren, so it means that the board are more than happy to cash in on him.

It's all just a bit sad.

I think it is both to be fair. In the past we have produced the occasional gem and they have stood out so much it was difficult to surround them with players of an equal status.

Now we can. But we are also producing top quality player at a much faster rate so you have to move one or two on or we lose the ability to blood new players each season. Lallana served his time with us before moving on. Disappointed with chambers for sure but we'll survive. I put it in the same class as Shaw. Best of his generation and always difficult to hold on to for long.

We're potentially getting 36 million for Lovren and Chambers. That's daylight robbery. We've mugged off Liverpool twice now. I'm seeing this whole thing as a positive. We're rolling in money and willing to spend it. We've already made two excellent signings and more will follow.

I'm in full agreement with this. This is our business plan. Bring youngsters through and sell them for vastly inflated prices. Now all we need to do is bring in a few quality cheap replacements and keep bringing the young'uns through. It will be a tough season, but I think Koeman will do okay. We've made huge profit on every player sold and the board have already said it's all going back into the team. I expect us to buy well when the fire sale is over.

Chambers is undoubtedly a very good prospect, but he is never worth £16m. IMO he shouldn't be worth half.

For goodness sake, he has only been in the first-team for one season, and I don't think he's as good as Clyne.

It's becoming a bit clearer why MoPo was ready to snatch Spud's hand off now. If the Board informed him the "summer plan" was to sell his team out from under him. Perhaps we can see him in a kinder light now. Looks like he did the only thing he could have done.

There is absolutely no way of maintaining PL status by relying on youngsters and cheap replacements!!!

Shaw and Chambers are barely out of nappies and they've f*cked off already

Nope we can't.

Gonna just remind everyone now that Rickie was going to leave for West Ham half way through last season. Something was not right there. It was just after Cortese went. Think about it.

Cortese tried selling to West Ham wasn't it?
