Not sure you’re allowed to say that.. it’s discriminatory against people with no hands.

this guy explained it to me like this

    How to get promotion

    Performance - nobody cares

Image - everyone need to look the part and talk the talk - hence making a big thing about the toilets and bringing in a speaker (once mind you)

Exposure - making sure his boss tells thier boss and a big thing is made of said toilets. And this happened.

He literally did nothing else. Image and getting exposure. Bosses have no clue.

I had another guy "organise" aka do slides. for a off site event for the big manager. That was the image (the boss was in on it and praising this and that while we sat about bored) Then exposure meant telling the top brass all baout it.

This guy sat on this phone for 3 months waiting for his transfer and promotion after that event. Didn't go one bit of work and the next guy along was handed a pile of ****e to fix.

This is how incompetents get into positions of power. they convince another incompetent to lobby for them and then just have to look the part. Performance in role doens't matter one jot.

Yeah. And who benefits from that? Again, the rich, the people who own the factories that can now sell more.

Doesn't a healthy economy need some rich people? If nobody has enough money to create a company that makes goods, who is going to open factories or businesses and supply people with what they want or need?

(I'm basically toying with the idea myself after reading an article which raised some good points.)

Not disagreeing with that, but not everyone who owns a Business is rich, and if demand is good they can afford to employ more people and/or pay their workers more.

Sorry, I've just re-read my post after seeing your comment and realised that I'd worded it really badly. <laugh>

What I meant was I'm toying with the idea that maybe capitalism isn't the root of all evil. I'm always looking to educate myself and I do that by contemplating ideas that are counter to what I have thus far believed.

You got me thinking about what business i would start though. It wouldn't make much money, if any, but I'd give writing children's books a go. I'm passionate about children learning to read, the earlier the better. I could never write a book for adults but I think I could come up with something that children might enjoy. In amongst all the doom and gloom that everyone keeps pushing on us, I get an enormous amount of joy from my grandchildren. The simple pleasures of reading to a child or walking through the park picking up leaves to take home and identify in a nature book, keeps me sane.

Sorry, I understood you really wrong then <laugh>

That's a great idea, you should give it a go. If you're passionate about it then it should be good. If nothing else, self-publishing with Amazon is really easy, I know a couple of people who've done that. And @wishiwasinliverpool could probably give you some Tips. But even if it's just something to read to the grandkids, they'll love it. And if you write the next Harry Potter then you could be on to a nice little earner.:emoticon-0105-wink:

Also, now would be a good time to export your books with the pound being so weak :bandit:

No. Just this one. It's probably a style sheet not loading. Don't know how to check that on my phone browser, doesn't have developer tools like chrome does.

I kinda like the black... It's just weird. And, no, it's not the grey theme you can pick from preferences, I'm on the default one.

Maybe you've rejected a cookie or something or there's some blocker in the settings the browser no longer likes on a new.model
