Off Topic Good Deeds

I'll start this off by putting it into the context of my minor problem.

I'm classed as a key worker and I'm currently working from home. I ordered a new computer to enable me to continue to do my job as well as possible and after a mistake in delivery, it was left at a post office 2.5 miles away.

I don't have a car so I walked to go and pick it up. I tried to order an Uber to help me take it home but they kept rejecting my journey, so I came to the conclusion that I'd have to walk home.

I was obviously struggling with something so big when a local taxi driver pulled over. He asked me if I needed a lift. I took it and asked him to stop at the nearest cash machine on the way as I had none on me.

He told me not to worry about it and he was happy to do a good deed for the day.

It might have been a small gesture, but it was a gesture that saved me an awful lot of hassle and made me feel really good.

There are plenty of examples of good deeds by others in this crisis and it makes me have a bit of faith in humanity.

Anyone else got their own story to share of a good deed done by them or others in this time of crisis?

Family related kindness but my son in law does holiday lets in the Lakes and obviously has all his properties empty.
He saw a GP asking for accommodation for weekends as hes coming over from Darlington to cover shortages in the out of hours section so he has offered this Doc free accommodation for whenever he needs it during this crisis.
Also just waiting for my Daughter and Grand Daughter who are presently baking to drop us off some goodies, before I go to work at 6 o'clock, simple kind acts which do make a difference.

I'm in the shielding group so I'm not allowed out. I'm struggling for shopping and financially (self employed so no money till June!). I got a food parcel sent by the government last Monday and posted a picture of it.

A meat hamper arrived at my house on Wendesday that I didn't order. Turns out a friend saw my picture and noticed the only meat in it was a tin of corned beef, so she sent me the meat to add to veggies and pasta and stuff I was sent as she knows I like cooking from scratch.

I've done some good deeds during this and haven't mentioned it but wtf ...

... I've taken a stranger 'possibly infected' hillbilly to the shops because its 10 miles and the bus service has stopped operating.

It's actually the school bus but people can normally book a seat a day in advance but have to go at the start of school and return at the end. We're so isolated that it's the only way people, without transport, can shop.

I've also just bought mobile phone credit for an impoverished Sunderland poster, who I don't know, and don't expect it back.

I've offered £100 to another poster, who I don't know, in case they have a gap in their funds.

Under normal circumstances I have loads of spare money but I'm currently earning very little ...

... somehow that makes the giving all the more pleasurable.

My life has been based around the Methodist Church, Salvation Army, British Legion, RNLI and the Tufty Club ...

..... with a bit of the National Trust hoyed in

And, yes I've had a drink, it's 24 degrees and we're having a BBQ with lurds of beer.

All amazing gestures mate. I know you don't expect praise or credit for doing any of this, but part of sharing these stories is about recognising we have good people in our communities who look out for each other. It's a feel good story that I'm clinging too in these worrying times!

Had a note put on my gate asking if I need anything Karen my next door neighbour had put it there

Felt really good someone was looking out for though I did not need it as my son's have me covered, any way thanked her

Two days later got a text from here that said puy you wheelie bin to outside of your gate let me know when you take it in

Text her I had took it in she said there was something at the gate for us

A great big cherry crumble not had one for about 20 yr . My wife started crying saying I feel old now

Had no custard so used carnation cream with it Beautiful

I could not thank her enough
